No Recoil or Flash on Tamiya JP

Post by kwiky »

Ok, so following on from my other thread where I was asking about a replacement idler swinging arm, which I have ordered, I decided to use the time waiting for it to arrive, to charge up the Jagdpanther and make sure everything else was working ok. Turns out it isn't, The gun won't recoil and there is no flash, despite the tank still making the sound of a shot. on inspection i found the metal arm that supports the cannon for recoil was bent so i straightened it up but its made no difference at all. I get the sound of a shot but nothing from the gun at all. I've check my wires and they're all still plug in to the right places as far as I can tell, so I have no clue whats going on. Anyone had similar experience or able to advise me on where best to start looking for a fix?

On the mf-04 unit there are two sliders, move the one on the right hand side all the way right. This puts the tank into self test mode. There should be recoil and flash. Is the recoil making any noise? Worst case is youve burnt out the recoil and flash circuits. You can get a replacment mfu from jasons store on ebay for about £70, Hopefully it won't come to this.

Thanks for the reply, I have done the self test mode thing, no recoil, no flash, and no, the recoil unit is making no noise.

Hi Disconect the barrel from the recoil unit in case it is sticking , then put in test mode If the barrel has hit a wall or other object it could have bent the recoil unit make sure nothing looks bent.
