Re: AEC Matador gun tractor 1/16 scratch build
Well I finally fixed the pcb!! I got the conductive adhesive stuff and thought yaay now this should fix it. But no. I carefully scraped off the insulating layer over the copper, applied the adhesive conductive stuff and carefully traced it back to the FIRMLY anchored wired (used a small screw to screw into the board - that sucker was going nowhere! Waited 20 minutes for the stuff to dry and switched on. The motor worked beautifully but no steering.
Much profanity, loss of some of the little remaining hair, and pain to the fist from hitting hard things. Carefully scraped all the gunk off the board to expose the copper again. Found a small thin piece of wire and tinned it, soldered it very gingerly to the bare copper and to the screw holding the wire into the board, and hey presto, magic happened and the steering now works. With great care I now screwed the pcb to the chassis so it aint never moving again. Tested and everything still working so now off for a celebratory glass of wine and come back to the build tomorrow with sanity restored. It could have been down to how I used the stuff but anyway I've got it for next time.

All good today as the rc is still working perfectly and work progresses on the load bed. It's starting to shape up now but still lots of work ahead. At least with the rc problems resolved it's down to pure modelling.

Well some progress achieved during/despite the festive activity and alcohol consumption. The driver (Arthur) has joined the project early as cab design consultant so this time I shouldn't have to amputate any bits. Doesn't look like much progress but the radiator and engine cover were a bitch to get right.

Onward with the dash, footpedals, steering wheel, gearlever, and handbrakes. I suppose I'd better give Arthur a seat too!

Loving your build, it makes a real change to see trucks being scratch built, and on a minimal budget too, which is great.
I saw the post about the Dremel workstation, I had always avoided one as I was concerned about how accurate it would be but it looks like it does the job. My old B&Q Dremel lookalike has seen sterling service for ten years so maybe its time to spend some dosh and save myself a lot of bad language.

Some progress on the cab. I didn't realise until I modelled it how 'busy' the matador cab is, it looks huge until everything is in.

Now I can start on the cab frame/roof.

Coming along a treat, should be a little belter when done.

Progress to date. Cab is progressing but still needs lots of work. I'm not putting windows in until after the cab interior is painted.

and against the other models for scale

Starting on the chassis next.

Alwyn,
She's really looking like the stuff now. ;o) Your next job, should you choose to continue this madness, is the French Laffly S-20 TL. The truck that looks like it ate a clown car.
regards,
Painless
