tamiya sherman vs super sherman

i want a super Sherman but they are hard to find cheap,is there a difference in the electronics and sound or should I buy a basic Tamiya 105 and buy the turret after kit they sell to make one.

As far as I know...the internals of both are the same...the difference is mostly cosmetic

Hi Jimmy,
You will need to get an M51 turret and E sprue from the tamiya M51 kit plus a barrel this will give you the main parts for your build. You will of corse need the M4 Sherman 105 kit.it depends what tank you want to build!! The cast hull or the Wealded top hull. Take a look on the tamiya build page you will see there are two on there this will give you some idears as to witch one you may want to build.hope this helps you. If you want a famous based IDF M50 or M51 your best bet is getting a Tamiya 105mm Sherman and using it as a base. The Tamiya "super Sherman" isn't very accurate and is more a hybrid of different idf tanks than anything else. Also I believe the only difference between the Tamiya 105 Sherman and the super Sherman electronics wise is that the super Sherman has recoil. The engine sound (radial) is wrong for most m50 and m51s. On mine I have used a Tamiya kv multi function unit for a Diesel engine sound.
