I've got a couple kits of this Berg Tiger not yet built. I have a 1/72 Dragon kit and an Italeri 1/35 kit. I think it would be a relatively simple conversion from a Tiger.

i think its a great idea for a 1/16 model, it would look real cool going round a battlefield towing the dead tanks off

I started doing a 1/16th version a while back. Its easy to do, I even got the crane all built and fitted until I found out what it was for. Apparently it wasnt for tank recovery or engineering, it was for placing demolition charges in front of enemy fortifications. So the Charge would be slung from the crane, driven up to the "blockage", dropped, the Tiger backed off and then the charge was detonated in place. So I kinda thought bugger that and stripped it all off. Having said taht I have just this month been collecting teh bits back up to start teh project again for something different, but no, no good for towing stuck tanks, never designed for that.

Tiger tanks were forbidden by regulations to tow crippled comrades.

So the Berg would be a pretty easy conversion and fitted with the 3:1 ration gearboxes would be able to tow pretty much anything on the 1/16 battlefield.

Im tempted.
