New Tiger 1 DX6i question?

Post by PaPaGrizz »

Howdy All,

Santa left a Heng Long Tiger 1 Non Smoke and Sound, under my tree. :D

But after running a few battery cycles in it, I found it is getting boring. :( So I know I need to upgrade my electronics. With that in mind, I wish to change over to a 2.4 controller. I have a DX6i (spektrum) controller I use for my planes and choppers and was wondering if there is a set up where I could use both, tanks and choppers without needing the self centering mod on the left stick?

Also, if anyone has a grocery list of what I need for the transition, I will forever be grateful.... I plan to convert to a S+S unit and retain the air-soft capabilities.

Any and all suggestions are welcome, as my eyes are getting tired reading and searching though all the topics in this vast forum.

Thank you all!!!

Best thing for you to get is a Clarkboard, in stock and you can have it in a few days
If you have a reciever you have everything you need for the transition.

Greetings Grizz.... think you should maybe tell us what made it boring :haha: You did only get the basic model...so yeah there isn't much to do but tear up turf...Upgrading the low end tank will probably run you more than buying another Higher grade tank...which is what I would say to do...don't get the same thing...get something different...that way you have variety...the added fun is you can lend one to a buddy and shoot each other...which would add to the fun and maybe some excitement as you dodge bbs :D

Then there is the other side of the coin...as going the route that you did... RC tanking might be lackluster to your other RCventures and quite possibly ...not the part of RCing you need at the moment

There's a lot of room for thought....and not much invested if you decided to break away from it...so I would say instead of dumping a bunch of money in your basic model...either get another higher end and see if you are still bored ...or bail out now ;) ...as it might start with changing the board and the TX...but after dumping a bunch of money into it...the final result will be no more that a glorified version of the high end model
Good Luck

Best bet go shopping with freaky for a clarke......
Get a Heng Long wiring kit too.

Need a speaker, don't get a heng long, something like a Visaton FRS 7 4ohm 7cm Speaker

Need one of these... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8-Pin-Connect ... 1029677368

Smoker I would wait till you have the control and sound sorted.... There are better smoke units than Heng Long but can be fiddly.

Search the forums here and you should find the conversion info somewhere!

Sure you may spend as much as another Tank but you will learn a lot about RC tanks doing the conversion and will give it better resale value if you get it right. Hope that helps.

Good word of advise Bro,my thoughts on this is do a bit at a time to make it something I can pass down to one my Grandkids/Great Grand kids

I do like the idea of getting a better model (when I can afford it!) so I can have some battles with some poor soul :D
I do appreciate your input sir!

Tk, I believe this may be way to go also, and should fit into the budget at the time. Thank you for the input

My transition to something that won't fall out of the sky is, I had some health problems where my right hand is not coordinated yet.

Us old Farts need too play too!

Thanks again!

Alpha has the right idea. Try a newer version with at least the rx 18 mfu. They are inexpensive and good for bb fighting without doing anything extra to them. Then if you really get interested in it you can add detailing and even IR battling with little extra cost if you stay with the HL brand.
