I just signed up for the forum today as I have an old Heng Long Tiger I that I hope to bring back to life. I look forward to asking for help along the way and getting to know more about the simple electronics and inner workings of my RC tank. Merry Christmas!

Due to work and other things that pulled me away from RC tanking for the last 10 years, I've come back to try and resurrect an old project along with trying to find an answer to an issue with an old HL King Tiger that I had in storage. Saxondog, my apologies for not returning an answer to your question. I live in Mt. Juliet, TN; just about 12 miles east of Nashville. If there are any new folks here that live within a 100-mile radius, I'd like to meet up with you.

HengLong has updated dramatically in the past decade, and new electronics can really add a lot of fun. What is more, there are more repair and accessory parts for the Tiger I, especially the HengLong Tiger I, than almost any other RC tank, so you actually have a gold mine. Well...it may take a gold--unh--some investment.

Let me start by saying this old HL Tiger is vintage either 2006 or 2007. Remember when the HL Tiger first came out and the main barrel was in the recoil position as if it had just fired, i.e., barrel too short? That's how old this one is. That's what started me taking this thing apart. I have fixed the barrel and added weld like and repainted the chassis and upper hull. That's where I left it. Taking a look at it now it is definitely an antique in terms of what's out there today. In fact, there is no version of the RC system anywhere. The crystal in the battery bay reads RX FM 27.195|02. The controller board has all leads soldered in place.
