I had a Panzer III a while back that I converted to an Ausf N, in doing so I ground off the moulded tools and was left with a smooth patch. In the end I sanded off all of the checker plate, cut some brass mesh to size and glued that on, it came up pretty good.

Another trick is to sand it smooth, and use a scalpel/ruler to scribe new diamonds into the surface, when painted you will hardly be able to spot the difference.

Glenny Hi, If you go to www.welshdragonmodels.com
click on HENG LONG, TAIGEN ,TORRO, upgrade parts, then scroll down to PANZER111/STUG, when you get to that page scroll down and on the left hand side is ABER CHEQUER PLATE. shaun
