hl shooting unit

Post by jeff »

hello everyone, just joined up with you-all. i have a tiagen panther ausg. have installed to date: waltersons 3spd. gearboxes w/5pole motors, metal suspension arms, heavy springs, metal road wheels and tracks. my shooting unit stripped that flat gear that cocks the thing. bought replacement unit, and bb's fall out of barrel and it wont fire. i have some kind of small rubber thing a bit wider than an o-ring. is this somekind of barrel seal? is there access to a parts blow-up or diagrahm? the waltersons gearboxes looked like i should have put them in a glass display case, but after install, it appears that one runs great and one has bad machining on motor pinion gear and next gear. trying to get it warrantied, let you know if they stand-by their stuff.help is appreaciated on gun problem, thanx, jeff.

Good Morning,
Jeff, that rubber ring sits on the end of the metal air soft barrel and when the gun is fired, seals the barrel to the plunger allowing air to go up the barrel behind the BB. If it is out of place or missing or cracked\damaged, BB's just roll out of the barrel as you have described.
regards,
Painless.

As Painless has already stated....that rubber thing is called a bucking ..it acts as a stopper for the BB and also the seal for the barrel...to get a little more push out of the mech...get some airsoft silicon spray...NOT THE CHEAP STUFF FROM THE HARDWARE STORE.....and shoot a half seconds worth to seal the plunger ;)

Good morning again,
Alpha speaks serious truth here. I did this to enable the stock HL mechanism to work a tad better with a scale sized long metal barrel that he had fashioned for a recent Pershing redo of mine. I fired the main gun while the tank was sitting on a desk in the library to show it to a visitor. We both listened and ducked as the air soft BB whacked back and forth across the room several times so fast we could not see it. Truth in advertising. ;o) Good luck with your gun issue, Jeff.
regards,
Painless

There you guys go again, assuming we've all been here as long as you. Where does one spray the silicon, inside of the turret around the bucking, or down the barrel. Thank you. ;D

Sorry about that Jt....just a half second shot down the barrel...or if you have that off..into the air nozzle of the mech ;)
Remember.... feed it the good stuff not the CHEAP STUFF FROM THE HARDWARE STORE...that stuff has acetone in it..and will destroy the mech

Thanks Alpha, that M-26 I just picked has a very weak firing system and also drops the BB's out of the barrel when I tilt the tank towards the floor. In the event I have to remove the turret and look inside, what am I looking for? Thank you.

Well Jt...the mechs in these tanks are no where as precise as an airsoft gun...things or flaws to look for.. would be small imperfections or cracks in the plastic...if you go further into the gun...tears in the rubber piston plunger...the cracks can be repaired...but if there is a tear in the plunger you pretty much have to change out the unit...as I don't know of anyone who sells parts for the gun separately

Don't worry too much about BBs rolling out of the barrel..it happens with airsoft rifles as well.. the main thing is the BB "seats" correctly in front of the air nozzle ;)

Another thing to look for is to make sure the barrel is completely seated inside the firing mech...small gaps can cause poor performance

GOOD LUCK JT

Just a note Jt...you might be able to upgrade the mech..by looking for small plastic airsoft pistols....Warning though...it's a hit and miss endeavor ... If I still had access to the junk I used to ...it's easy.... usually not only the piston rubber might fit but also the springs ... ;)
