How to separate tracks

Post by Merlin707 »

Hi all, can anyone give me advice on how to separate standard metal Heng Long Pershing tracks to make them smaller?

Need to make them smaller for my build and it seems to be a black art.

Plastic or metal Merlin....plastic...reg or jewelers needle nose pliers ...pull off one of the locking ends...pull out the pins...there are 5 pieces to one link if I'm not mistaken...so it's sometimes tricky to put them back together again

Metal is a little more challenging...two vise grips should do the job ... Put one on one locking end the other one the second ...then just pull them apart ;)

Hi Alpha, these are the metal tracks.
I don't have a vice so will have to find an alternate way.

HL pins are kind of hard to remove from the metal tracks..if you have a spare pin you can try to tap one out...but really vise grip pliers are the easiest

They aren't that expensive...two will go far...here about 12.00 US each

Hi Alpha, thanks for the tip. A set of pliers and some muscle worked fine to separate them.
