One little aspect of Saumer that many do not know. It is a 'public' museum, the closest type of thing that we have in the UK is a public park etc, so it is run by the people, rather than like Bovington, which is run by a private Trust.

This means that model clubs can simply ask for permission to put on a display in a tank hall, and it is usually granted. Hence the French model clubs, including the RC tank guys, can set up camp in front of the real tanks, and run a show right there in the hall. Just imagine if we could do that at Bovington? lol.

I lived a mere 40 miles from the museum for a year, but was so busy that in all that time, I never managed to get there. :S much to my regret.

One possibility regarding info is that it may be on the web in French, which is why it is difficult to find. This forum might be a good place to ask, they are a friendly group.

The Saumur Tiger 1 was recently cosmetically restored. The outside at least is very much rust free these days. Inside it's hard to tell whether it's surface rust or primer.
