turnigy 12800mah lipo

Post by spongehoobtank82 »

Saw a 12800mah turnigy 2s lipo on hobby king for 40quid today, seems a pretty good deal for that sort of huge capacity, any one have any experience of using this? So far my highest capacity battery is 5000mah lipo which is quite good but this 12.8ah beast could give me hours of run time!

Just my thought....that's A LOT of amps 8O ... more than likely it will fry your electrics ....amps doesn't necessarily equate into longer running time ..I'd say that's a risky purchase

Alpha please stop giving advice if you don't know what your saying.C rating determines how much current your battery can supply (in conjunction with capacity). Now just because it is capable of supplying that current doesn't mean it will. A battery will only supply what the electrics ask it to.The exception is a short circuit.

12.8ah is just the capacity. That's pack can supply 12.8a constantly for an hour.

Alpha theres a saying in Lancashire 'wind your neck in' it came about in the first war when soldiers peeked over the trenches and got shot in the head because they didnt knowwhat they were doing. If you dont know what your talking about (and im affraid you dont seem to in this case) why comment..... its about a sensible as someone saying to a surgeon "oh thats a lot of blood" it dosnt help anyone and just leaves that person open to ridicule.

Hey alpha, I always appreciate your input although you seem to have been taking abit of a pummeling on here lately, and you are wrong in this case mAh is the capacity, think maybe you've just confused it with the discharge/ burst rating, but again I appreciate your advice :) so no one used this high capacity battery then?

The largest I have used are 8000mah 4s packs in my moonraker yacht. Put into perspective these run big 3674 inrunners with a peak current of 90a for a good 40-45 minutes. This pack of yours should give you a couple of hours solid running. Probably double that with how we drive tanks!

Well I have the limits set at 20a per track, so that's 40a peak and that's only ever going to be up step hills, just driving round in the flat/ uneven terrain I reckon they only draw about 4a each so I think this pack could probably give me a good 2-3 hours run time! I will get one and let you guys know how it works out, now just need to work out how to shoe horn it into my tiger!

Sponge,

Can you post the link ? Can't seem to find it and that is one heck of a battery. I have never even heard of hobby grade battery past the 6000-8000 mAh.

MichaelC.

Sorry never mind. FOund the Turnigy 10,000 mAh and Zippy 13,000 mAh. Wow. Never knew you can get that capacity at 2S.
