Hi All,
A very good book to look in is TIGER1 on the western front top book also they do TIGER1 on the eastern front. It gives you ALL the Tiger1's that were in service. Brian...
There are no known photos of a Tiger 1 carrying the "palm tree" symbol.
All Tigers in Afrika belonged to independent heavy tank battalions, and as such they were attached temporarily to DAK divisions rather than belonging to the DAK, at first.
For Operation Ochsenkopf, s.Pz.Abt. 501 was renamed as III Battalion of Panzer Regiment 7. This is the only time when we see Tigers in the same unit as Pz.4. After this operation, all Tigers were owned by s.Pz.Abt. 504. Photo coverage from that time is spotty.
These "events" during Operation Ochsenkopf have thumbnailed photos of the Tigers and Pz.4 that fought alongside. You'll have to find the full-size photos for yourself;
David, My hero, I feel better now, I think my amateur rifflings through a few reference books was justified, I only wish I had done the research before I did the build!! Eastern I think you can call off the bloodhounds and get back to another slice of Pecan pie, but thanks for the thought, and my thanks to everyone else who followed this expedition. shaun
