Can anyone tell me if the King Tiger saw action in the desert with the Afrika Korps.
Cheers thank you.
I am not retreating, but simply advancing in another direction!!!

No, it wasn't in service until well after the Afrika Korp had been disbanded. The first properly operational units were used about July 1944. Even then, the units that used them were of almost no appreciable combat effectiveness until 505abt used them during August in the east with supporting engineers from the Henschel plant working along side maintenance crews.

You could always MAKE one. Look at some of Alpha's tanks, just cause it never was doesn't mean it can't be.

Not all that accurate Jack... most of my tanks are accurate to GIRLS UND PANZER...with the exception of those not produced ...or I haven't gotten around to building yet....If I was going to do a Historical build.... I would stick with Billpe's notation...because it's correct...KT weren't around yet to be in the Africa Campaigns
ARTISTIC LICENSE doesn't play in too well with Historical builds ....Hollywood maybe ...and maybe Shermans.... but it really depends on the builder ...A KT in africa garb...nah I wouldn't do it

If you're talking comic book/manga (promise me there are no hentai Tanks!) King Tigers, I'm seriously contemplating doing a "Panzer 88" King Tiger. If you're going to do fantasy, really go for it.

Nope no Hentai on GUP that I know of...but if there was...don't think it would affect the tanks

Anyway... I think Awins is looking to build like everyone else does... Africa corps... I wouldn't do it ;)

I know when I built my first Panzer 4, I decided it would be Afrika korp and that I would after I had finished it build a Tiger 1 of the same regiment with complementary markings OH YEAH, I WISH!!! Why does life have to be so complicated? After looking at every reference book I could find I gave up,not one Tiger 1 ever carried the Afrika Korp symbol, why oh why did'nt I check before I began the PZ4? I would have been fine with a Panzer111, I feel certain that belatedly some smart a*se will tell me that a certain regiment of Tiger 1s in the Tunisian campaign did work in concert with Panzer 4s, well working together is not the same as serving in the same regiment,YAH, BOO, SUCKS, see if I care.  shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

I think there is a point where you say "This is tank x, from regiment or company Y" and people kinda expect it to look like that. If you say "Here's my generic tiger painted how I wanted" no one will bat an eye lid at any inaccuracies because it was never meant to be accurate or represent anything other than what makes you happy.

The only time I draw the line is at incorrect reference images because it applies to the former, not the latter. Like the example King Tiger reference images on this forum - more are wrong than they are right unfortunately.
