It's literally liquid solder/flux mixed. You can "paint" it on with a brush. It melts easily under a torch or even lighter and makes a very strong bond.

This is a picture of my fenders one day of soldering skill apart. The first day was horrible, day two was amazing. Serious, only one day apart using electrical solder.



Solder paint made my life even easier. My soldering work past that point got much improved and with less headache and effort.

I just bought myself a torch soldering iron and some solder paint like you did. Going to try it out on my King Tiger I'm doing.

Just remember to wash all the parts you solder once you're done, and use an old brush to gently scrub them. Simple running hot water should do. The flux will rust your parts over night if you don't! And no direct flame, you don't need to touch the torch to the solder to melt it, keep it at a distance and bring it only close enough to do the job, don't overheat the metal.

As has been stated previously I wouldn't bother with the aber set if there's an equivalent voyager set available. The aber set is far less user friendly and 90% of people won't notice the extra detail. I'm intrigued by this solder paint, I'll have to try it out! I used some leaded solder on mine, seems to work ok. I definitely need to invest in an etch tool and a decent soldering iron.

I just did that and bought a Dremel torch with a controllable temperature and a bunch of attachments. Gave the solder paint a try and it seems to work out ok. I'm going to actually try to use it to solder the sponsons of my King Tiger to the hull rather than bolt them. In theory it should work but I'm not entirely sure the solder paint I have is suitable for it. It worked on brass but on aluminium it seemed to just roll off.

Wood burning Irons work too...the best thing is...the kits usually include a number of different shaped tips

I bought the Voyager and Aber grills for both the KT and Tiger and to be honest Aber still do the best grilles for both. They have more detail and are a closer fit.
