Re: Newbie help and opinions wanted.
Just thought I would give a quick update so you didn’t think I had disappeared.
After much deciding my plan has been decided by initial cash outlay, so I will be getting the Heng Long model at Howes models.
http://howesmodels.co.uk/product/Heng%2 ... %20Version
(which seems a good price?).
As this is my first RC tank modelling experience I thought this would be a good base, but with a view to upgrading to metal hull, wheels etc later (probably from Welsh dragon). I will start will weld lines and smaller improvements / details. Once happy with that, I can then move on to learning airbrushing, weathering etc etc (long fun journey).
Tanks-for-the-memory has a HL build thread
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=8350
which is simply stunning, so will use that as a guide / inspiration, although I will get anywhere near that detail and skill.
So that’s my plan, sounds reasonable?
Will obviously start photos from day it arrives.

Mark Hi, HOWES is a good choice in dealers, they have a big model store in Oxfordshire and are one of the cheapest of all the recommended dealers that are to be found on the Forum, TFTMs build is an example to any one but do please scroll down the HENG LONG BUILDS on the Forum and you will discover yet more revelations. www.welshdragonmodels.com are going through a bit of a time having suffered serious illness but they are getting back to strength and even though their stock availability is still wanting I will always go to their site first.

O.K. now I'm going to throw a wrench into the works! If you REALLY like to build and mod, Just for Alpha, you could also pick up an HL T34/85 for about $150 - $200 and then buy a Trumpeter T-34 kit ( I just got one for a hundred bucks)and build your brains out on the cheap. You can also do it for the same thing for other Trumpeter kits. Just a thought....

hi rangie81 & welcome to the forum ,you have had a lot of good advice so far on here ,about kit choices, & I see you have decided on starting with the heng long kit then upgradeing whitch in the long run might work out costing as mutch as the outher kits, depending on how far you go on the upgrades.i started the same way ,first the tiger 1 then kv1,then pzr4 then upgrades for all of them ,[but didn't go to mad on the upgrades ], good luck in what ever choice & route you take , tanker 242
Re: Newbie help and opinions wanted.
I can't help but agree with what Tankie 242 just said... Set a budget for you build Rangie...then go from there...try not to exceed your budget... If you feel like you are getting too far over...sometimes it's good to consider another brand or another tank...this also depends on what you consider fun... me though I enjoy the build...I like seeing them run more
