Ersatz M10

Post by tankmad »

I have been waiting years to do this but I wanted my hands on a Tamiya Panther to do it so I eventually won one fleabay after years of being outbid. This is the problem about buying second hand you don't know the person who built and painted it this one was built ok but after painting it green I think he handed it to his 5 year old son to paint the rest so it will have to be rubbed down. The tanks used for this where the earlier type Panthers so I will have to back date it by taking the rear heater out and swapping it for the earlier type as well as replacing the late exhausts for the earlier type luckily I had some parts left over from my Tamiya Jagdpanther. The late type mantlet with the chin will have to be cut off as well and reshaped I also removed the capola and filled in the hole to make a smaller opening.

Doing the disguise round the hull I have decided to put a TBU into this tank I will hide the ir emitter behind the mantlet I have also decided to make my own exhaust as it would be better if they where in two sections so as the upper hull comes off easier I will keep them for another project in the future.

Oh Stevie why couldn't you have started this the week before Christmas? I could have settled down in front of the puter away from the kids and grandkids with a drink and a notepad. A lovely plan though and I shall be following it closely. shaun

Thanks for the kind words guys managed to get some more done added in more detail painted the wheels a lighter green don't know why because after I weathered them you can't see it. Managed to get metal hatches from Tankzone and cut out the old ones to make room for them. I got metal tracks and weathered them but they do not fit the Tamiya Panther should have checked that before I weathered them so if anyone has a set that does not fit the Heng Long Panther G let me know and mabe we can swap.

Stevie,
Knock out work there! Once you get the tracks sorted, you will have a great runner to boot.
