It's not like HL, which can knock together a cheap ABS kit based on a standard chassis and sell them as toys for 150 quid. The Tamiya Leopard 2 is a £700 kit.

Would I buy one of these Type 10s? In the future maybe, but I need a new HOTAS first! I'd have much preferred the Type 74. In my mind that is one of the best looking tanks ever produced.

The Leopard 2 is very well known though. 3800 built and exported all over the world. Based on the Leopard 1 which was similarly very well exported. Challenger II, 400+ built and exported to Oman and there is no interest from BAE to build or export more of them. Oddly enough this was because every time they tried to sell them, the competitor was the Leopard 2 and people bought that instead. Which one is better is left up to the experts but I don't see Tamiya making a 1:16 Challenger II kit as it probably wouldn't sell very well. Niche tank for a niche market.

Where I think they should look is a Centurion, as that I think would sell pretty well the world over.
Billpe, what flight sims do you do? I bough an x-52 and rudder pedals for warthunder but it gimped me so much I gave up!

By who..and where? 8O ...Is there solid proof...or is it speculation ? But as I later stated... it could be...just because how the Japanese are very picky about details...those details cost....reason Chinese brands don't do details on their tanks...and leave up to modellers...they sell image not detail...but you know that already right :haha:

Being that it will be a new release it would be kind of hard to say... Tamiya does put out a fine product...but they usually still need some attention...but man..if it came with metal tracks... along with the normal metal parts... I'm with you..it will be a nice tank :D

It will probably be mostly ABS, nylon and styrene. The leopard 2 has almost no metal in it other thanks some motor casings.
 Not for me lol

The Tamiya Leo 2A6 is widely regarded as the finest 1:16 RC tank available both from a mechanical and aesthetic stand point.

For me it's a practical thing Bill... not going to be on this earth much longer...so no sense in making that kind of purchase...especially if the thing is all plastic

What difference does it make if it's plastic? Unless it's part of the running gear or part of the hull construction metal is generally pretty useless on these 1:16 tanks. Even then the Leo 2 proved that if you make the hull the right design and use high quality ABS, metal is fairly redundent.

IL2:1946 but moving to IL2:Battle of Stalingrad, DCS:World - I have the P51, Dora, FC3, A10C, KA50 modules and have also backed DCS:1944. Also play Rise of Flight occasionally too. Currently getting back into DCS:World after not touching it for the best part of a year as - no pun intended - that sim is really taking off right now. Those planes take some learning but they're the same level of detail as the real thing.

I found that in WT as well. Historic mode should make it harder for mouse users but I felt the same way and gave up on it. Il2:Battle of Stalingrad just came out which is worth a look if you like WW2 based sims/games. It needs a little more attention with engine managment (in expert mode which is what many fly online) but it's fairly easy going. I got the Premium with the FW190 and let the kommandogerät 40 look after the engine. If it follows IL2:FB/1946, it will be around for a very long time and be good offline and online.

According to Deagel.com, the Abrams "has been exported to the Armies of Egypt (M1A1), Saudi Arabia (M1A1 and M1A2), Kuwait (M1A2), Australia (M1A1) and recently Iraq (M1A1). Roughly 10,000 M1 Abrams main battle tanks were produced for the US Army, the USMC, Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia."
Almost 2.5 times more than the Leopard. I am not buying the copyright excuse when you have so many copies flooding the US market in various scales and fidelity. A curious move by Tamiya when clearly the Abrams would be a more logical choice given, I assume, the US market is many times larger than Japan.

Was going to ditto that Cruiser. I was under the impression that the Abrams was the most widely produced modern MBT in the world.

Certain some Russian mbts have more models produced bu I mean to say anything that can stand on equal ground with Challenger, Merkava, Type 10, Leo 2, Leclerc, etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong, not here to express opinion, just learn. :)
