Alpha this is what I have.... NOTHING like what you're using!

Not much adjustment and the O ring on the can adapter has started leaking and so has the trigger. It's a good thing I've painted my tanks and have the base coat on my figures cause I think this airbrush has had it.

Alpha I'm looking at some of these on line, whats the diff between single and dual action? And I'm surprised these don't look very expensive at all!

That's a shading brush....still not bad for doing tanks.... there are a lot of techniques for using that... especially since those were initially the type of airbrushes that were found back in the day.... Now it's a little outdated... but still usable if you know how .... the first thing would be to get rid of the pressure cylinder...and get a compressor
You really don't need to spend a lot to get good results Jack...
There are a lot of China made airbrushes Iwata and Badger look alikes that do just as good a job most sell for under 25 dollars with ship...even the VL ..(my favorite)...now sell on Ebay anywhere from 25 to 80 dollars.... when I got my first one back in the 70s when airbrushing was big...I paid twice that and that was just for the brush...now they give you all kinds of stuff in a package...I can't tell you how many times I browse Ebay and am tempted to jump on some of the deals

If you look back at Jake's future purchase...that's a single action...there are adjustment knobs on the back of the airbrush

This is a Passche model H....single action external mix ...very similar to what you have...just a little fancier the trigger movement is up and down only

This is a Badger model 200 ... single action...you can see the trigger is fixed...and just like the one Jake is looking at has the needle adjustment on the back..
these are a little better than the one you have and the Passche...because it is internal mix...which means the paint is mixed and shot out internally...so your pattern is more controlled ... Trigger is the same as above

This is an Iwata double action...very similar to the Badger and other China copies...don't get caught up in the "name" game...they all work the same
but as you can see the trigger moves...so by rolling your finger on the trigger ...you control the flow... very good for free hand airbrushing like what I do ...the good thing about these is you can do solid pattern spreads like the Badger pictured above...but still have the flexibility to change the pattern without stopping to adjust the needle

This is the VL ...the best out there IMO....so easy to clean and maintain
All double actions have a trigger adjustment in front of the trigger....so there is a sensitivity preference you can dial into

THE NEXT DIFFERENCE IN AIRBRUSHES IS GRAVITY FEED AND SUCTION
Mine are all suction...for the reasons I spoke of earlier

This is a gravity feed... Iwata again I think ... but as you can see ...you are kind of restricted to the cup you use...and you must clean it (very well) before changing colors

This is a China copy suction feed airbrush...you can get these super cheap on Ebay...they work great... clean up is not as easy as the VL ...about as tedious as Badger.Iwata and others that look like it ....but you can use just about any size of bottle for these.... Passche has a triangular bottle

3oz ....I use this for flushing my gun .... but I really don't need to clean the gun thoroughly to change colors because of this convenience ... sometimes I don't even flush the gun...I just point it downwards and spray out the residual color out on to some paper...then plug in the next color...usually flushing after about three or four color changes

Sorry Jake you are correct...just looked up and found a blow up of the mech

so yeah the trigger does control the needle...the back knurled pieces are the adjustment for the trigger pull

Good luck with it...I'm sure you will get years of usage from it

keep an eye on part no3

this part is easily distorted ...make sure you keep it clean...best way is to slide the needle in and out then blow air through it
it's the one thing I don't care for with my Badger...already replaced that part twice ....the needles are also something to be careful with...on these the tips are very fine...so bend easily ....once the tip is bent....you pretty much have to replace it ...though I have repaired mine a few times... it doesn't provide the same pattern of spray...and distorts part no 3

Alpha, the mortgage company says I have ZERO budget this week. Wow some of those look complicated, I'd be afraid to mess stuff up.

Until the one I showed you I had just always used spray paint or a brush to paint what I wanted I guess I need to just bite the bullet and get a decent airbrush. I think I'll stick with a suction type as well for the reasons you listed Alpha cause it'd take forever to paint with those tiny little gravity fed cups. I just need to find a decent SIMPLE to use airbrush.

Yeah reason I like my Passche.... fewer parts in the nose... and the material cone is easy to clean... it takes me twice maybe three times longer to clean my Badger and Badger look alikes in comparison to the Passche...

The links...no problem ... those things come around ...it's just right now..I think they are the best ones going down....I did pass on a couple this past month...the VL twice was on buy it now for 25 dollars + ship which was nominal ...but by the time I thought about it ...someone else snatched them up lol

But that's how it goes... I just keep in mind that deals always come...you just have to be patient
