Re: 1945
I Know Herman was going to give his the octopus treatment.... he was wondering how to do the suckers
...thought that was challenging... reason I did my version lol...it's actually a cool pattern...when I researched it... got to see examples of how other modellers did it...being that I have an allergy to Historical paint...had to do it different ... but whats cool is you can actually see the inspiration between the portrait and the lesser 2d camo
...Question that lay at hand is.... now I'd like to see a German Octopus

The bottom one is a real tank. The others I'd suspect are all suspect. The top 1 is possible but the number colours are wrong for 509. The 2nd one would almost certainly be a factory painted tank if it was in SS 102 (502) in 1945. From September to December 27th they actually had no tanks at all. They got 6 replacements in December 1944 but gave them away. They weren't active again until March 1945 where they had 31 factory delivered Tiger IIs. So would have been factory painted.Jake79 wrote:A few more late camo's I found...

Yeah, the Octopus was on 7 tanks at most. It was meant to be a new scheme for June 1945 but some were painted like this on the last production batch.
Blame ze Germans for being efficient. It's the zimmerit tanks you have the options with for historical paint schemes. I went for 505 on mine simply because the charging Knight looks so cool.
