Torro Dilemma / Quandry
Hi all,
Firstly thanks for all the comments on my previous posts about the Torro Tiger 1.
I was about to buy this winter grey coloured version early model
http://www.torro-shop.de/en/rc-tank/rc- ... stem?c=140
Then I saw this late model version
http://www.torro-shop.de/en/rc-tank/rc- ... tarn?c=140
In your opinions which is the best looking paint scheme and which is more realistic from a historical point of view?
Also will the late model version have better electronics etc with been newer?
Thanks

Can I possibly offer another option?

If your after an early tiger this gives you a mechanically more reliable model with better sound and control. If you wish to start infra red battling then this has electronics that support that too.
It's also far cheaper, you could use the extra money to buy metal tracks, detail parts etc and still have change.

Good Morning, Merlin,
Both tanks are 2.4GHz sets so the electronics will be the same. The tanks are very nice from a detail point of view but more will need to be done if you are seeking historical accuracy. The paint jobs themselves are a matter of opinion. I favor early Tiger 1's so there is mine. ;o) Enjoy your new tank whichever way that you go.
regards,
Painless

Re: Torro Dilemma / Quandry
I'd go with what Tom suggests, it could do with a dab of paint but as an investment it's a better option.
As for the paint of the two you've linked, they're both fairly typical of an early and a late. They grey one is a little on the light side but prototypical of an early Tiger i.e. grey. The late is in the right colours. Unless it states its a tank of a certain ABT then it's neither wrong or right but an approximation. Both have a black muzzle break which is a little unrealistic.

I like the late, my Panzer IV is grey and white with some black shading and it has become my least favorite tank color scheme.
Also will the late model version have better electronics etc with been newer?

Man thats a tough one they both look great! If you like the camo scheme get it before someone else does. Either one you'll be getting a good tank that you'll have lots of enjoyment with and you can always detail them however you want as your the tank commander.

The solid grey is the early version and I have a preference for that one. In real life it is a smokey, blue grey that is very subdued and flat. Very classy looking.

Sounds like you want a RTR.... and not too interested in doing a model.... so I would say the one Tom found ... though a pretty darn good deal.....isn't the choice for you... so getting back to the Torros.... I like the grey Early version...so that's my vote
Good Luck with your choice

Hi Alpha, yes ideally I would like a RTR tank however I get the enjoyment of re,painting and modifying the already built exterior etc as I've looked at the Tamiya kit form tanks and seen footage on you tube of these been constructed and I think that they are a little advanced for my abilities.

Re: Torro Dilemma / Quandry
Well the one Tom recommended isn't bad considering ...it sounds like it has all the workings done...and the seller seems willing to run through the operations as well...you might also be able to barter a little which is good on a second hand tankMerlin707 wrote:Hi Alpha, yes ideally I would like a RTR tank however I get the enjoyment of re,painting and modifying the already built exterior etc as I've looked at the Tamiya kit form tanks and seen footage on you tube of these been constructed and I think that they are a little advanced for my abilities.

Anyway..you have my vote Merlin.. thing is ... I tend to like the older Tiger than the new ...so bottom line is it's really up to you
