Struggle I did with that. The biggest tank in WWII and I can't fit a gear box in there. Basically if you look close at the interior layout picture you will see the gearbox is installed on a angled styrene. That's the only I can get the axles into the hull, and raise the motor and gear part so it clears the tracks.

Tracks are still slipping off the sprockets when I go forward......... Tried everything, metal tracks, fixing the last boggies before the sprockets so that it doesn't come up when pull. If I put it up with no resistance it works fine. The moment it is only the ground it can't pull the track from the bottom without slipping. Might have to convert it to front drive but then it won't go backwards.

Just a thought Michael.... what if you put one gearbox in the front and one in the back 8O

Have been thinking about that option......... Split the motor wires, I don't need it to go fast so it is perfect........ 8O 8O 8O

The option only came to me as I stared at your chassis.... especially since the sprockets are hidden... it might help with the track alignment as you would have more leeway with the toe in or out of the gearboxes....anyway...it's just an idea :D

and if you don't solve it...you know theres awaiting grubby hands that are willing to deal with it ;)

In all honesty mate, the problems you have with this 16th replica are probably mirrored from the real thing in different stages...........
Unreal job you have done to get it to even throw a track :thumbup:

Just a quick update, after numerous tries at rebuilding the brass gearbox, I finally gave up and replaced it with a set of stock steel gearbox from my brand new ZTZ (I upgraded it to a black metal gear and 480s). I have to re-fitted it into the narrow chassis but I am happy to say that my Maus is now running properly. Very happy man. Test drive video for you guys to check it out:

What a magnificent job! What did you do for the suspension, (fixed or sprung)? Are you using the stock Juckenburg kit's wheels, or did you replace them with something else? (Those of us with a similar kit - that has been sitting in the closet for five years - but with little idea how to RC it, want to know).
