Hi all,
I've been having problems with paint not adhering well to a mayo aluminium barrel. Likely due to how polished it was, the surface had very little key to it, even a light spray of car primer didn't help.
However, I solved this fairly simply by letting the barrel soak in a glass of white vinegar overnight, which keyed it enough for the paint to stick well without risking too many scratches by filing/sanding
