Question about Fuses and Batteries

Post by Marc780 »

I posted this in the electronics section but no one seems to have an answer, perhaps not enough people have seen the questions...they're simple questions i think,

I have my tanks electronics with the power circuit fused - from the on-off switch output hot wire inline to the red wire of the power plug. Of my Heng Long 2.4 Ghz Rx. I use a 5 amp fuse. I think this fuse might be too low-it usually works but blows sometimes when i try to climb things it used to climb no problem.

Should I upgrade to a 7.5 fuse or is it safe to go to a 10 amp fuse? 10 amp fuses are easier to find 7.5 are harder-i use these kind of fuses because i can just plug on a female solderless connector to the leads If i do go to a higher amp fuse will this reduce the protection to the receiver? Or should i really stay with the 5 amp to be conservative?

Battery questions, I charge my current 3000 mAmp and 3300 Mamp batteries to 8.5 volts then quit charging them. Is this a good practice or can i charge longer for a little more juice? Also I'm thinking of getting the 5000 milliamp, 7.2v Venom battery for the tank. What advantages will this have? Just longer run time? Will the charger (its the Tenergy charger 01005 model) charge that one higher? And would 5000 milliamps, have any effect on the electronics like stress them more somehow?

Thanks for all replies

Hi Marc780,

I am surprised that nobody answers. First I have to say, that I don't use Taigen electronics and I am not an electronic specialist.
The crucial question is how much amperage is allowed at a Taigen board. If you take a fuse higher than it is allowed, your board will be destroyed.
The thing is. If you need some more power of an electric motor at constant voltage, then must rise the amperage (as you wrote = fuse blows sometimes when i try to climb things). If you remember at your school time; P = U * I.

I think 5A fuses are too weak, I use 10 A fuses, but as I said, you must know how much amperage your board tolerates. And also 10 A fuses blows if your amperage is to high. But this way it should be.
And no fear about your receiver, he should be safe behind the board.

Battery questions:
Read the manual of your charger; there will described how you have to charge NiMH or NiCd or other batterys. And, you can't charge a 3000 mAh battery to 3300 mAh.
What advantages will this have? Yes, only longer run time.
Will the charger charge that one higher? Only up to 5000 mAh.
And would 5000 milliamps, have any effect on the electronics like stress them more somehow? No.
