David, can't quite see what that's showing? Possibly at an angle but I'm sure I've seen pictures where they weren't .

It's showing a real travel lock.
If you want references, I can sometimes help. I have made drawings of parts of this lock.
Dragon made a really good and complete rendition of it in 1/35.

Tom, it's looking fantastic. I cannot tell you how jealous I feel to see the first coat of paint go on - if only I had reached that stage with mine...

I think what David is trying to say (in his own mysterious way) is that Chris's travel lock is not 100% accurate - the 'real thing' didn't have a hinged clamp to go aver the top of the barrel, but something approximating a thick bicycle chain (much like the Panther). I seem to recall a Panther build where someone came up with a suitable scale replacement - perhaps sourced from a motorcycle kit upgrade (which would make sense). Anyone recall what I'm talking about?

However, I think your lock is just fine. It 'looks the part'. And it works!

Can't wait to see the dunkelgelb going on...

Hey tanks! Yeah I was aware of the inaccuracies, I had considered using some photo etched chain from the panther travel lock, however as you said something a bit more robust was in order. I'm still not sure if I should go with what I've got or build up the chain.....a seed of doubt is a terrible thing!

However on a happier note, my package from Rctank.de arrived yesterday. A working highly detailed mg34 with armoured barrel. I've also got an aber armoured barrel for the AA mg. Finally I've gotten the aber tow cable set. I'm pleased to say this set are far better than the last ones where the cables had some of the strands cut and where a pig to assemble .

Anyway here's the result so far:

I'm also pleased to say that the Extra work making the clamps stronger has paid off, they hold down the cables perfectly.

Before I get much further I need to get hold of the mg34 amp sacks and belt. Also need to add the missing lift point on the back of the turret.

Plastikote red oxide metal primer (normal primer works just as well).

"Seeds of doubt" aside....................both yourself & Mr Tanks BUILD and display. Thats worth a thousand words.
Easy to advise-tougher to execute. Those that can-do, those that cant-only advise.
Who says that the chain didnt break & was replaced by a field fabricated expedient ?

What I cant get over is that if this was a 'lazy' feeling build, how would it be if you really put in eh ?? :D :D
Oh, yes Sir you already have shown what that result is
