help with re scaling drawings required

Hello Everyone

I could do with a bit of help again so here goes. I have just got a H/L Stug and want to put the extra schurzen armour on to it. I have a 1/35 plastic kit of the same tank so I was going to use the plastic parts as templates and then re-scale them to 1/16 to fit my new Stug.

If I wanted to re scale something from 1/35 to 1/16 is there a mathematical formula for working it out. I have use of a photocopier so I know that if I copy the origional 1/35 at double size I should end up with 1/17.5 scale so not too far away but I would really like to achieve true 1/16.

I suppose copying at about 195% origional size might be the answer but if anyone on here has got any ideas I would be very glad to here them

Hi this is the one to use as long as original plans are correct,

very simple to use just put in the size you have in the top boxes and then the size you require in the bottom box
it will give you the answer note the boxes have a 1 in each box just need to remove this before adding your scale and measurement.

All I do is take a measurement from the part you want to upscale take 1/35 Stug IE 100 X 35 = 3500 divide by 16 =218.75

Yep thats the way I do it.

You would need to rescale to 218%, and that is only true if both models are exact scale. If the 1/16 scale is Heng Long, that is out the window. Best thing you can do is measure something that is consistent- like length and width of hull, then divide teh 1/16 measurement by the 1/35th. I would check both length and width and pick teh middle of the two ratios. And I'd make the  panels a little oversize- it is easier to file off rather than glue on the difference between correct fit and template size.
