I didn't even notice that it's three for a Pound. Woz, I'll take three instead of the one I requested. There's bound to be more filler cap issues in the future so a couple of spares will not hurt to have on hand.

Alpha,
Don't wonder or worry. ;o) My Sherman caps are all done and weathered. I only wanted some of these because HL in their infinite wisdom put an antenna over an important piece of upper hull detail on the Pershing. I'm getting excited about the redo. Waiting to hear back from an outfit here in the States called 'Frontline' to see if the Schumo kits they offer on their webpage are really in stock and for sale. North American Schumo is hard to find.
regards,
Painless

Finished off the three piece transmission

I love the Mato metal suspension but one thing that bugs me is the little spring. They just don't look right for a +30ton tank. So I decided to make some proxy springs-

?A dry test fitting. The bottom cone will be glued to the base so that it stays down and will pull/push the other cones up and down as the suspension arms move. They're not perfect but they look a lot better then the springs and I don't need to modify any of the metal parts to get them to fit.

Nice looking parts - and a neat solution.

What people do on the Armortek Sherman is to drill a hole in the centre of the indent at the lower end of the spring, tap it, and then insert a screw from underneath, to hold the spring centrally in the lower section, so that it doesn't ping out if one wheel is elevated too much.

Thanks.

The Mato ones have two groves in the lower part which run up and down two ridges. So even if you push one wheel all the way up the lower part stay almost horizontal. Also I've filled the bottom part with resin to hold the spring and smallest part together.

Hey Woz...did you see the work Nick did? It's different from what I have in mind but it was pretty cool how he fabricated the early VVSS suspension

Yes I saw that, looks great.

Just ordered a Tamiya 1/35 M3 Lee kit for something to do when my Priest is finished, so I may have a go at the early VVSS after all.
