Tiger antenna question.
Hey guys sorry but I didn't see it anywhere, I moved the antenna on my Tiger but how long should it be? I'm sure the real ones didn't have a 2 story antenna!

Re: Tiger antenna question.
What rig are you running Jack? if it's a 2.4 any length you want lol...or you can check Richy's Tiger build ... he even put the antenna tube on the rear bulkhead....If it's the crystal unit...leave the length...shortening will really hurt the performancejackalope wrote:Hey guys sorry but I didn't see it anywhere, I moved the antenna on my Tiger but how long should it be? Re: Tiger antenna question.
Its not a 2.4 gig setup its the old crystal type. Having a Taigen hull I attached the antenna wire to the hull itself so the WHOLE tank is now the antenna and has a range till I can hardly see what its doing so the one on the hull is more for looks then function.
So how long should it be?

Re: Tiger antenna question.
I made mine the same length as the tube that sits on the right side. Assuming that would be scale correct.

Re: Tiger antenna question.
Turret Antenaes were 1.4 meters in length ( some command vehicles had these but not all )
Deck antenaes were 2 meters in length
looking towards the front of the tank they are mounted to the right and back of the turret.
If anybody wants to correct those numbers I will agree as I am going from memory and as much as I don't think I am wrong it is totally plausible

Re: Tiger antenna question.
The ordinary Tiger had a 2 meter antenna, located on the right side just behind the turret.
A Command Tiger had this same antenna, but on the turret roof. It also had a 1.4 meter antenna on the left hull roof, OR a star antenna on the right hull roof.
All antennae were removable but the rubber base and stem would remain.

Converted to 1/16 scale it would be 4.9" long for the 2 meter antenae.

Re: Tiger antenna question.
Thanks guys!
Yes Alpha I got the conversion.
Freaky, I came up with 4.875 inches so by what you have it looks like my math was right for a change!
Again thanks everyone. Now I just need to figure out if I want to make a loop on the end of the antenna or use steel putty to make a small ball, both of which would be so I don'e wind up stabbing myself with the damn thing! LOL! Leaning more toward the ball as I think it'd look more real then a loop.
