But your conclusions are right on the mark, In my unworthy opinion the future can only be improved by universal education and that must include a heavy emphasis on history (local, national and international) all good things could come from that
Education helps.... Problem is... what and how it is perceived .....It's interesting how normal "Joes" can comprehend history and how it affected us in the now...the unfortunate side of the flipped coin is that the ones that seem to attain power have a different view...Pootin and Kim duck... are good examples...they were taught the things that should be taught...but each in their own way twisted things... and for some reason still believe that prosperity comes from domination ...it is the reason when I read about foolish incursions.... I always think what could have been.... if we did go in post WWII and take the weapon capability away from the Soviets...and instead of re industrializing them in that direction... teach them how they could improve their economic capacities...like we did with Japan
Not sure you if you have noticed Shaun.... Most of the problems we have abroad come from those who "want"... I call them the Have nots....their leader think by grabbing up more territory ..... that soon they will "have"...they don't realize it doesn't work that way.... as it has always been a territory that is taken over becomes another burden for that country....the Germans found that out too late as their resources were slowly depleted as the ground of conquest grew...they just didn't have enough of anything ...to support their troops... the populations they took over... etc etc
This fact could go back as far as when Wars where started.... Egypt failed for the same reasons...Rome failed for the same reasons....look at the maps... maps of conquered ground... every map will show the pinnacle of expansion... and at which point the regimes began to fall
In our time... the theory of prosperity through conquest is ridiculous... populations are too large everywhere... if the country is poor in propagating what they have...they aren't going to be any better supporting even more burden...it's stupid... flat out...but they never learn ...making education.. a touch and go thing
PS I should say that my further education was centred around the likes of Nietzsche which explains rather more about me than you would like to know.
