I took the tamiya battery plug apart (the big plug, not dmd end) and tapped the power wires.I soldered another pair of wires to the pins then simply put the pins back into the Tam plug.billpe wrote:How did you power the smoker/lights?
Yeah... Tamiya's are prioritized ...so you have to get Tamiya tracks for your tank...hope the HLs didn't cost you much...I'm going to convert my Tamiya to metal tracks... My personal view is that yes they are worth it...though if you run indoors and have wood floors... you may not want to change them... I've found the metal tracks really dig inmdkboggle wrote:Money down the drain so far,,gggrrrrrrr
I payed for a set of heng long king tiger metal tracks to go on this tiger,i should not have done this and i am kicking myself for being a grade A idiot.
Lets start from the beginning
Ebay,,,i see a set of hl metal tracks with sprockets and idlers for the hl king tiger so...
I mailed the guy and asked if this lot would fit the Tamiya king tiger.
He said yep, tracks will fit but sprockets wont as the gearbox shafts are not the same BUT he said he had a set of tracks only for me if i wanted them.
So mug here bought the tracks.
Well they don't fit,not on my tank anyway.
For starters the sprocket holes in the tracks were to narrow so i filed them out so my Tamiya front sprocket now engages the track holes as it should,ok cool so far but,,,,
When i run the tank i find the tracks are clunking about and then i notice they are riding up on the guide pins around the rear idler wheel and i notice that the wheels are jumping up and down as well.
Turns out this problem is due to the track guide pins, you know, the pair of fin looking things in the middle of the track, well they are not in exactly the same place as those on the plastic Tamiya tracks meaning they do not line up with the running grooves in the wheels or the rear idler wheel.
Maybe i can adjust the wheel and idler spacing's to fix this ,i don't know at the moment because i got the hump and have taken them off the tank and slung them on the desk.
Are metal tacks even worth using on this tank?
For now i give up because i am peed off and i am going to shoot the dog with a bb
