Pros and Cons to having a lot of Tiger builds going on at once...mostly what other builders had thought of doing...which is Ok... but I much rather see the birth of another KV2...especially by Tom ;)

Your going to hate me alpha but thanks to Pete I'll be doing a mid tiger too! That might actually happen first as there's less surgery required! But kv-2 is priority 1

Actually, no Tiger I ever had a Tiger II loader's hatch (the one that's slightly thicker in the middle).
When they made the 40mm roof for the Tiger 1, all they did was move the hatch handle to one side, and the lock to the other side.
Then, a bit later, when they ran out of the old hatches with long hinges, they used the short hinges from the Tiger II. But the hatch was still flat.

As for this build; Cyber Hobby released a 1/35 kit called "Tiger 1 February 1944" a few years ago. This was a small batch of Tigers with the new steel wheels but the old Mid-style hull top. Looks like it would be perfect for the parts you have there. I can post the decal plans from the kit if you're interested.

Here they are; but I'm afraid they all have the rear "travel lock" device. I don't know where you'd get that.
Right-click and "view image" to get them larger.

Well, of course, the zimmerit is not THAT easy... But I really must apologize for the 'stray' beer bottle which appeared in one of my recent posts... :{

So the path of least resistance being the one to get my tanking mojo back I decided to have a crack at my tiger given I've got most of the parts and there aren't a zillion rivets to replace.

First things first, the merit (wsn, hobby boss) top has hatches that are moulded closed so I've had to open them all up. I've stripped all the tools off ready for zim application, swapped the mantlet over to the atak one so I can sort the turret internals out. I've repaired the barrel as it was damaged, shimmed it as the resin sleeve is too wide, added servo recoil and a hl stug elevation unit. I've removed the original vision slits and escape hatch rest for zim. I've also added a catch off the metal taigen tiger so the glacis stays in the right place .
