Panzer III Dead - I'm Stumped!!!

I'm afraid the pictures are useless for diagnosing anything but i added them anyway...I have a Mark III that's dead and i can't figure it out. It worked until I tried to hook up new turret wires (all of them) from the female connector in the hull, to fix the traverse motor. It has a fuse on the power circuit, that has never blown. changed it anyway-still dead. I can measure between 4 and 5 V on the male lead to the power cable from the battery to the Rx box (the male plug, that plugs into the Rx). The Rx box is 2.4 Ghz that worked until i tried to hook up the turret wires.



The Rx box has a 5 v fan glued to it, that is connected straight to the battery on an unfused circuit, and that motor spins at full power when i turn on the switch. i have changed the following: to a different battery that tests at 8.4 v. Changed the RX box/board to an RX18 with all the trimmings (crystals and receiver), with a known good Tx and Rx. I'm afraid to change the Rx box from one of my other tanks in case that one blows out too, then i have TWO dead tanks...I disconnected the 8 pin turret cable from the box to eliminate that as an issue, when i just try to get the gear motors to work, still nothing! Does anyone have any ideas???

firstly go over your wires and make sure there are no splits and all the connections are solid. then trace each wire one by one to make sure they are connected in the spot they should be.
This sounds like you fried the board though, the fan turning on means you have power but that particular circuit is meant to have power as soon as your tank is turned on.

I Agree,it sounds like a dead board.
May be a good idea to get another board if you can.
You could try disconnecting everything apart from your engines and see if there is any life but i don't think in this case that will work.

That sounds good...also Marc... did you check you fuse to the RX it burned once before.... this time the filament might not have burned the normal way...sometimes fuses stress burn at the caps

Yes blimp tried rebinding alright. Tried it to two known good transmitters, no results. I'd like to think it was the fuse but as the one i replaced was still good, and unblown (there's a dirty joke there but not the time is it ha) I changed it because sometimes or rarely, actually (I saw it happen once or twice) fuses do perform "false positive" they're not actually blown but still won't pass power. But like i said I tested power at the plug, the one that comes from the battery switch and right into the Rx for system power. And if 5.8 volts to the power lead is enough to run it (I'm not sure is it? Now I'm thinking i need to check one of my other tanks for a comparison)then the board must be dead after all.

I did disconnect the turret and just try running the motors and still, not the slightest activity from the motors. New 2.4 Ghz Rx is on the way...it HAS to run just the motors or else it's some gremlin unknown to man until now Or else my electrical skills are far worse then I've ever imagined...I've gone over every single thing in the system, have to go over it all again before i blow another board this time too...

This is a tough one Mark... don't see how connecting the 8pin plug would short out your RX... did you try disconnecting the fan... being it's connected directly to the battery...maybe it's drawing too much power or cause a flux of some sort
