The build has come a long way in a short time well done it looks like a blank canvas to die for. I like the fact you have modded the side skirts to be able to remove to suit. Can i ask how this was done , pls excuse if this is an easy mod to achieve but im very new to tanks and am still working out what can and cannot be done. Are there any working hatches on the tamiya model ? Ive seen working hatches on you tube but wondered again if these had been removed carefully and remodelled .

The side skirts come in 6 pairs on the kit. Sadly the only hatches which work are the commanders hatch and the loading/escape at the back of the turret. Allot of people cut them out and get aftermarket ones because the handles are not that great and they put the power switch underneath one of them. I wish I did that on mine

Hi All..news time and its not all good lol.
The model is complete apart from some small details yet to be done ie the mg and its mount,tools,cables.
I airbrushed the kit with Humbrol 94 matt enamel as a base and then used Tamiya fx60 as the top coat.so now i have the brown and green to do.
The hatches,i made the commanders hatch able to open and close and it is spring loaded so it snaps down into position when opened or closed and the other turret hatch was adapted by drilling the hinge out and placing wire rod through it,then detail to the inside has been added nut not yet complete.I also added a floor under this hatch so a guy can be placed in the hatch.
I did not open up the rear turret hatch as it is made of resin,the kit one was not used.
The side skirts were cut into 6 sections with tiny hooks placed on each and holes drilled into the main hull so the skirts will hang but i found that this idea was not that great as every time i moved the model the buggers fell off,and so in a fit of madness i ended up using glue on them to tack them in place.i can still remove them if needed but pins/hooks did not work that well for me.
All hatch handles were replaced with wire and a metal head light (with led) fitted but not wired yet as this goes to a peco switch so the light can be turned on and off by remote.
The lower hull front hatches,,,i am a idiot lol,i forgot to add the small hooks and lifting catches to this before painting.now i may just leave them off.
Now for the bad bit lol
The DMD is crackered,yep its faulty.
I have full control apart from no turret rotation or gun elevation,you get the sounds but no movement.
It is just those 2 functions that don't work at all and so the DMD is going back to Tankzone on monday for testing and replacement.
But,i did find a replacement online that was new and cheap so i bought it anyway and this will come from Germany.
At least if i end up with 2 units i have a spare or i can stick one in the Tiki tiger (hl model).
Anyway,on to some pics.

That sucks about the DMD, I think you're the first person I've come across that has one that has a problem.
Was the sprint loaded commanders hatch go in OK? I'm thinking about putting one on my KT when I rebuild it.

the hatch is a pain,well it was the way i did it but you can do it other ways i guess.
All i did was drill a hole in the stub that the hatch sits on.Drill a hole in the middle of the hatch top.
Pass a spare track pin through to join the 2 parts,holding the hatch shut,or tape it shut.
From inside turret,place a spring from any old pen over the track pin and glue it to the top of the turret.
When dry,pace a washer at the bottom of the spring to form a bed and then use a small cable tie below the washer.stick a little glue on this lot to help hold it in place.
Now what i did was to bend the track pin into a u shape just to get the bottom of the pin out the way and to prevent the washer and spring from moving.
Not the best way to do this but it was fast,it's solid and it works well.
If i did this again i would cut the track pin down in length and secure the washer and spring with a collar and grub screw.makes for a much neater job as well.

OH No some quite annoying moments for you then, lets hope you get the dmd back fixed ok as if it wasn't broke it would work

Its just one of those things richy,can't let it get to me,,well it did but i have a new DMD on the way so no loss.

First lot of camo on though i missed a brown section on the left front fender,,ohh well,i will do that tomorrow when i do a line coat to make the camo lines crisper and to alter the pattern where needed,and there is lots of that because this is not my finest work but it still looks good here.
I had pressies in the post as well,i got the mg 34 kit,mini led bulbs and the tow /track cable kit,so plenty to do and plenty to come yet

The camo pattern is based on Tiger 104 that can be seen at Bovington tank Museum,i say based because atm the pattern is not spot on but i may make it so when i do the line coat.
Camo was painted using a Veda 180 Airbrush at 8 psi.
Paint used was Tamiya fx60 dark yellow,fx64 red brown and Revell Aqua black green.
Ok back soon.
