You're a dag Mr Jarndice !!..............I reckon IF I managed to locate a ready made dolls house close to scale, It would not see my work area getting past the 3 daughters in the joint :/ :/
Though you are probably right in saying I may be able to salvage some of those elusive hinges from it !

Not happy with the rope so chain this too shall be.
Have helmets to secure, track cable to place, a bit more snow material and I'm going to call it.
Display base will be a toss up between the pictured house ruin, and a simpler alternative. Just have to see how it goes.

Looking dang close Herman...you going to do a Show off with her solo?.... or make the diorama first ? ;)

ALPHA
Well, really aint over until the base is done, so, no hope of a show off until then.
Mr Painless is putting my weights up not to wus out & do an alternative base, so its going to be a while !
That structure looks pretty intense .... might take longer to build that than the Tiger 8O

The tree is easy.... some wire and paper towels work really well for that :D

Its the house lower structure thats proving to be the issue at the moment.
The roof shingles are sorted, frame is sorted, windows & doors are harder but should be ok, but I cant find the right looking half round timbers.
I will go and terrorise the nearest dolls house shop, but thats going to be a tall order.!
They will turn up Im sure, haven't been looking too hard yet.............

After a few misshaps & equipment failures I secured the track tow cables.
Use the "aloominum toob" for the crimps and picture wire for the cable. Gave almost all the cable a pre coat of my Jamie Oliver track & cable mix & secured with super glue in places.
Still nee to form the sags and weather/dress correctly but the result is acceptable .

Wow, thats just about right.................but..............they are real wood.
I have no doubt they might simply not get through customs.
At even $USD30 its not a huge amount to risk though.
Good heads up mate, I will let you know.

How large a diameter to you think they are ?

In my day ...yes the timber was all wood ...not sure about the modern stuff...the auction I posted is about mid production I would say...so yeah looks like real wood still about 3/4 in in diameter each log ...so not bad....the other option would be to just plane down some dowels ;) ...burn them a little and hit them with a wire brush...gives it that rustic look :haha:

I sus'd out some dowel material today in between electronic and furniture shops !!
No dowels, but got a new 70" smart LED T.V !! oh, and a stick mixer, jug, and study desks & chairs for the offspring, book shelves(for my booze bought in from many trips) and a new fridge............... :/

I think about 10mm/.3/8" diameter should be close to scale or just look right for the 'Dacha', but once I stop carting home new stuff I can focus on the tank job at hand ;)
Next mission is to weather the thing, hang the accoutrements, and do the base.

Hmmm, and try to figure out the noodle factory explosion that is the home theatre system cabling :O 8O
