Alpha,
Good morning my Friend. I am out today to pick up new primer and olive drab paint. I'm going to pick up a 5000Mah battery for the 'Palace' now that you mention it. A 25 pound tank with lights on and the smoker running chews through the 3000Mah one I originally got for it too fast. Alpha, any place that I use, just ask and I'll post the URL. I had figured that with the expanded state of the Hobby that any place that provides tank parts, good or bad will be known by now. Even doll house pieces, right, Herman? ;o) My hands no longer allow the continual steadiness required to do the tiny metal work that you do so well, Alpha but thems the breaks. ;o) I am glad to have you as a Friend who can sometimes be persuaded to do a bit of the work and mail it to me. ;o)
warm regards,
Painless

Well ...my hands are hanging in there...one still recovering from that nasty sprain back in December....but hands I can push.... the one thing that will probably put all building perhaps even playing to a halt is the vision...been using a jeweler's magnifier I got off of Ebay lately...just can't use it for long periods as it will give me headaches....but still it so worth it... as this hobby has it's rewards

You shouldn't have mentioned the battery for the Palace Painless.... You gotta know this is coming... go LIPO my friend :D you'll be pleasantly surprised at the performance ;)

I've been driving my H.L. Pershing for quite some time with 2 X 5000 mAh Nimh batteries...
Not only can I drive for more than 1:30 hours; but the weight of the extra battery help to reduce the "nose-up" tendency of the Pershing...

Note that the batteries are not connected in parallel; but each one is sharing different functions of the tank:
The main battery is powering all the operations from the Clark board...
The extra battery is powering the receiver, the TBS mini and the smoke unit...

Now that's a nice set up... talk about a tight squeeze...you seem to have used every available space 8O

Good Morning,
I follow the LIPO discussions on the forum and have the usual trepidations about using a battery that I have to monitor so closely to prevent failure or worse. As the tech advances, I know that I will too. The tanks seem to be getting heavier and perform quite a few more functions now. The 'Palace' will do great with that 5000mAH and I will use the left over 3000 battery in the Pershing since I am going to add additional lighting to it this go-round. Great job on the wiring, power and organization in your Pershing there, strmnd54!
regards,
Painless

Pros and Cons whenever you make a change Painless...I think I was as cautious before jumping into Lipos as you.... this was with airsoft guns .... but eventually with the improvements in chargers... I found the Pros far outweigh the Cons....and have been happy using them ever since....one aspect is how long the battery will hold power.... I've shown Mike a few of my Airsoft rifles ... Some which I haven't touched in over six months...flick off the safety and they fire ...same with my tanks... My F2 sat for four months...but fired up and ran during her redux ...gave the battery a new charge after the work was done

What you have to consider is even though the discussions did reach a rather complicated point.... the main point...if you read between the lines ;) .... :haha: was that we all still use them...you just can't beat LIPOs....What adds more to the value is ... they don't cost much more than a NiMH or NiCD once you get the initial start up cost out of the way.... that being the charger :D

Nothing in the Post yesterday but things are close. I'm expecting the rest of the Tamiya sprues from AAF today, hopefully. Last night, I swapped out the batteries in the 'Palace'. I put the 3000maH from that tank into the Pershing and wow!, immediate difference in response and lighting. Pic:

Don't forget that the commanders copula on the HL is turned to much to the rear and should be cut out and repositioned.
