It is nice to return to RC Tank Warfare

Post by thecommandernj »

I have been missing from here for too long and decided it was time to become active again. I retired this past summer and hope to have more time to peruse the forums. I sorely miss all the great posts and banter with the RCTW men. I have been lurking for a awhile but since I am planning a trip back to Europe this year I want to touch base with some of my European tank buddies. I don't know yet whether it will be a D-Day 70th Anniversary week UK/France trip for the guys or a 3 week family vacation during the summer. I had a blast with many of you (especially Martin) at the first ever "Tiger Day" at Bovington. I can't wait to get back to the EU.
Thanks to all the Veterans who fought for our freedom. For without their sacrifices these forums would not exist!!!

Thanks for the welcome back guys. I have been very busy these past few months. I am enjoying my retirement and have fulfilled two of my dreams in the meantime. One (10 years in the making) was taking my family to Europe for a RV/Caravan trip for 3 weeks. We had a fantastic time there in July and it was better than I could have hoped. Berlin, Munich, Dachau, Salzburg, Bavaria/Oberammergau, Luzerne, Paris, Normandy, Bastogne, Cologne & the Black Forest...WOW. I really needed the whole summer. Many museums and historic sites & sights. We already have a list going for a return trip.

Martin (Ex-Pat-Tanker from the UK) met me in Normandy so we could finish a WWII Museum tour we started in 2012 at Bovington's inaugural "Tiger Day"...LOL. My family would not enjoy the WW II Museums and sites like we did. The new Normandy Tank Museum was fantastic as was the new Overlord Museum overwhelming. We didn't even know about these until we arrived. The family did join us for the US Cemetery (I thought I would be saddened... but we left uplifted instead), Pegasus Bridge, Point du Hoc & St. Mere Eglise. My kids really enjoyed Point du Hoc.

The second goal was to create my own website for my RC tank & Model work. I got it up and running right before I left for Europe and I still have a few pages to add plus corrections. I am very busy with tank work so I am trying to pace myself. For those who want to take a look here is a link: http://www.rctankcommand.com/

Any constructive comments are welcome. Thanks men, Bob Held, NEAD CO
