Asiatam Recoil question

I used to know these stuff but how soon we forget. What is the problem again if you hook up the Asiatam recoil to the Clark and it won't stop firing ?

We really need an FAQ on this........

Not enough clawhammer applied to the problem? I don't know about Clark but with Torro and Asiatam\Taigen, the 'Palace's KV-2 Torro turret recoil had a loose, black cable that needed to be connected\soldered to ground\earth. I accomplished this by using the spare end of one of the old crystal set antenna leads. It plugged right into the loose Torro cable. It was the right diameter wire and provided plenty of length to solder to the on\off ground on the Taigen lower hull. It was difficult to understand at first why this needed to be done because the Asiatam\Taigen KV-1 IR Turret that I removed needed no such connection to work properly.

Thanks Painless. That was my original wiring which is the way you would do it before, but then Clark posted another way that bypass one of the trigger switch on their website and it actually works (without the Bat Neg- return for the recoil spring). The reason I tried to switch to the new wiring is that I already toasted one board today for whatever reason, and when I put in a spare it start smoking again but NOT from the board so I decided maybe it is the old wiring scheme.

The killer is that I have done the new wiring before and I know it works (It is very simple, 4 connections and that's it) and you don't need the bat neg-.

This is driving me crazy. I used to do this in my sleep. Must be old age.

Don't think this will help Micheal.... but I used a HL recoil in my L70.... there was a ground wire that came off during installation...found it was connected to the motor of the recoil...the other end went to the elevation unit....it's odd ...but it works

Michael, I'm not sure if it helps but in my first tiger I had an asiatam recoil. I took it back to basics and wired it like and slu recoil, so you have a two pin plug to send a pulse to the recoil motor and a two pin plug on the microswitch at the bottom of the recoil action (possibly what use to be the flash activation). I'll see if I can dig out a photo.

Thanks guys......... That's exactly what I did and what the Clark site says to do, two to the switch and recoil pins, two to the recoil motor. I pulled out another unit and wired it up again and same thing. So at least I am consistently wrong which is a good thing. Anyway, gave up and started doing this which I always wanted to try anyway. Easier than I thought. Couldn't use power tools late last night (sleeping wife) so I am going to try to finish it today when I have sometime.

Mike the switch in posts above, the little recoil trigger switch has 3 posts on it. If you correctly wired the Clark to the asiatam check that switch and I will bet that a piece of solder is touching the last 2 posts on the right. if this happens you make a complete circuit and the asiatam recoil gets full power during its entire sweep of the loading wheel OR reset your board to accept Tamiya recoil mode.
