Let's give this Imgur a try..............

Image

It WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! :haha: :haha: :haha: THANKS ZUUL
Now you all can take a look at my gun support lol

Image
took the gun off for the above two shots :D
As you can see...the center access hatch had to be enlarged... after doing more research on the gun mount...found the one I had in place was too short.. and did not meet the specs... I'm glad I did change it out.. as I now have a rough rivet pattern to follow when I do the final details... where the previous one I had none... Trimmed out the old Heng Long Hatch and modded it to fit ....it was a challenge....but a fun one at that :D
put the gun back on for the following shots

last two shots painted :haha:

No solder ... all glued with super glue... fabricated out of tin plate ...what can I say...it's strong as heck... didn't do the perforated version... just because that is produced in white metal... so after some research found there were three choices... the early variants didn't have the gun support... mid to late the perforated...the L70 (V) had either the perforated or the solid plate... also thought the solid plate was cool ...as it seemed to have served as additional protection
This single part took awhile... but I'm pretty happy with the result :D

Thank you to Zuul...who without his input there would be no more pictures lol.... Fynsdad... for his tutorial manner giving me the o'l foot in the rear to get cracking on this project.... Green Giant... who reminded me of the use of tin plate... and last but not least Sassgrunt... who provided all of the research material

PS. though I did make the shields for the rear...it is not what I worked on...decided to work on the commanders hatch and gunner's hatch... so far only finished the commanders hatch... it was a biotch :-< ....took seven hours to do the main...the periscope hatch four as I had to repair the resin hinge... one side of the hinge was nothing but a bubble... explanation and photos later :D

Thanks Zuul...imgur worked like a charm...are they a privately funded site?...super easy controls... no commercials ...it was great

Not even sure what the deal is. I've relied on them for years, it's a wonderful site. Reddit users are crazy about the site. I've tried many others going back years and the pictures disappear, the site is a pain, needing registration, lots of ads, meh. Imgur is best, brand loyalty aside. I can just drag and drop from my desktop and throw an image up in seconds or if I really want, make an album, free with no account, no ads, with picture links that last forever until user deleted, wonderful. ;)

I like the update, nice travel lock!

I agree with Zuul - that travel lock for the gun really turned out nice! All of your work on this AFV just continues to inspire (especially considering what you started out with)! I really like the work you did on the headlight, too - it looks just right.

Alpha,
It's coming along very nicely. ;o) I'm looking forward to perspective shots as well. The whole thing will be sweet when completed.

20 Hour marathon.. :lolno: .....Sunday evening till yesterday afternoon... finished all the hatch work...I learned one important thing.... I pretty much hate internal hinged hatches :problem: ............................... :haha:
Especially when they were made to be cemented open or closed :problem:

Will probably install a double scope later... when my brain and eyes recover lol

At first I was going to just glue the vent/ scope hatch...decided to go with a little trickery... so I made it so it could be slid side to side...and made it so the scope would also move into the forward position ;)

Image
All the hatches had their own challenges.... this is a close up of the one I had to refabricate the hinge..because of the poor casting ...luckily it was good resin...so it worked very much like plastic... carved off what was supposed to be part of the hinge...(only a bubble was there)..remade the side with a scrap piece of plastic ... drilled it and pinned it :D
Because the periscope on the commander's hatch was a separate piece... I made it so it could rotate ;)

What's a Reddit??????????????????? 8O ...it's a good site though Zuul... wish I knew about it before Photobucket... I would say the only thing is I like how the photobucket images load faster here than imgur.... but that's minor... the experience on imgur is much better :D Can't thank you enough for the tip

The "Travel lock" yeah... I'm pretty happy with how it finally turned out :D

Hey Mike  ...Thanks much for the loan of the books...it was kind of frustrating at first... as you may have read that I made the center transmission cover too small... and after studying the diagrams made me realize the relationship between the Travel Lock and the hatch...once I fixed the hatch ...it was easier to determine the size and location of the Travel Lock
So it really paid off to have your books handy :D

Thanks again

Thank you Gentlemen.... just trying my best to stay on target on this fun build ... it certainly has it's challenges..but I think I'm addicted to the problem solving aspect of it :D
I'll take a few overview shots later...be warned though... it kind of looks like a surf buggy right now.. as I have made the shields..but they are tucked in the open engine bays :haha: :haha:

ALPHA

PS. Herman... what do you think of the "No Zimm" look :haha:
