What sort of iron did you use the solder paint with?

The torch at the beginning of page three. Instead of using the pointed soldering tip I just used the lit torch directly and slowly brought it closer to the brass until it was enough direct heat to melt the solder.

Blimp's suggestion has forever transformed how I will work on brass pieces forever. It's so much easier, cleaner and even faster than using traditional soldering. The solder paint transforms before your eyes from a slimy grey muck into the beautiful shine of melted solder at a controllable low heat.

Don't be misled by the messy soldering either, that's on me for not being the best at it yet. It also looks much cleaner than my picture now. Once you wash off the burned flux with hot water an an old toothbrush it's much better looking. Always wash off your flux asap, it will corrode the metal in no time. I didn't realize this at first, but fortunately caught it before damage was done.

Going by this super HD pic you can zoom into the fender and see the rivets don't stick up nearly as much as mine. If I wanted I could sand/file the rivets a bit flatter to match. I'll think about that for the future, we shall see. Probably a fine sandpaper, a file might be too rough on such tiny rivets.

That picture also makes me feel more comfortable about the messy soldering on my side track guards. Zoom in and look at that weld on them, matches my soldering on most of the guards pretty well. The steel of the track guards is certainly thicker than I thought in the real world!

The following shots of the guard flipped up and the rear guard inspired me to do something special with the hinges....

Shawn, you're right, I wouldn't trade this for a Tamiya at this point for any reason! The satisfaction of knowing it's my build, to my standards is worth much more to me.

I've got at least 5 years worth of modeling stuff to get to already tucked away in storage, multiple RC planes, another hobby I need to re-learn from being a 15 year old kid into it, and most of all my Armortek 222 awaiting attention once the Tiger is done. Even if I wasn't so back up with modeling projects I've got so many other things... Couldn't be worth my time, but if someone really wanted one special I suppose I could make it. Then I get into fear of wondering if the work is good enough to sell...
