Made of model plastic ...not the oily soft kind of plastic right?...If so ... I would go with fast setting epoxies like krazy glue....if the tamiya glue is the same as I remember... it's still very close to the model glue testors and revell used to sell...there is a chemical in them that never evaporates...and continues to eat into the plastic...in the case of testors and revell...that agent was toluene ....try putting a glob of tamiya glue on a scrap piece of sprue ...you will find it will melt the plastic like how Woz's mixture would do... it will seem hard... but if you probe it ..you will find the glue is still working under what is a crust that has formed on the top...I can't tell you how many airplane models ended up in a New years celebratory flight of death because I found soft spots on the fuselage and wings because of the old style of adhesives

But really it's your choice... you have to follow your technique

FYI only the hull and the parts that attach to it is ABS, the top of the hull, turret etc. is styrene based, so standard styrene cement works on them.

Thanks Bill... I don't know... I still would use what I use...but like I said... sometimes it's better to stick to the methodology you are used to... experiment with other stuff later... It's generally how I do stuff... and usually ending up doing what I do.... the only time I changed the glue I used was on the wheel caps... on those I use household cement ...which is very similar to what is marketed for models...only because the glue isn't as strong as super glue or CrCs...because they do remain a little soft...and if I need to service the wheels...the caps pry off relatively easily ...with CrCs... something usually cracks or you get horrific pry marks

Try "Plastic Weld" - Dichloromethane (Methylene Chloide).

It glues most plastics including ABS.


If you can't get that then maybe try Acetone* as that can melt ABS.


* don't use nail varnish remover as that has additives.


I melt down scrap PLA to make a gunk that I use to weld parts together-

Hey...call that orange concoction GULE ...cause it's not really glue...but I'm guessing the byproduct of your 3D printing

Pretty lethal stuff. My mate was using it when he worked at Lillyput Lane, until the H&S officer confiscated it. Apparently you're only meant to using when wearing full breathing gear .
I bought it from an little arts and crafts shop and it only comes with the usual health warnings "don't drink or use to wash your eyeballs etc etc"

Well i am definitely a superglue fan, however i have found that it is a lot more manageable in gel form, it doesnt run everywhere, you can put a larger amount down in one place as it doesnt run and is easy to wipe off the excess as it doesnt set so quickly. Great for filling in joins, cracks etc.

Good Morning,
I am firmly in agreement with TigerTiger on the gel form of super glue. I discovered Loctite's Ultra Control Gel and have used nothing else since. Great shear strength and durability even when wet, hot, etc. Works great as a filler when using powdered plastic as it allows a moment for you to shape and scrape while filling holes or cracks.

Thought you whipped that stuff up.. it looks home made for some reason lol...Have to admit...Gule does seem like a proper name for it
