gearboxes and Taigen hulls.
If you buy WALTERSONs 3/1 BRASS GEARBOXES for the TIGER 1 the packaging includes a base plate pre-drilled to take the gearboxes, this base plate fits the HENG LONG Tiger 1 hull, the Taigen Tiger 1 hull comes with its own base plate, unfortunately this will NOT accommodate the Waltersons gearboxes and the Waltersons base plate will NOT fit the Taigen hull, just thought that anyone with a Taigen Tiger 1 hull needing gearboxes that you may end up making your own base plate. shaun

Jarndice,
It's like Heng Long has fostered a group of progeny that refuse to get along together. All bear some of the original's DNA but the options set up to work with it don't work with each other.

Painless

The Taigen hull plate is very specific so when I have a mis-match I just remove it and drill new holes. You just need to make sure whatever holes you choose from your gearbox just not impede the torsion bar suspension as the Taigen hull plate is very tight to the torsion bars.

Painless old friend, the annoying thing about it is that we have all got used to taking for granted that if it is HENG LONG then TAIGEN or TORRO will also accommodate the various upgrades, well not this time. Fortunately being an ex soldier I am unfamiliar with bad language! shaun

Re: gearboxes and Taigen hulls.
Michael it isn't the difficulty in fixing it, A piece of paper, a rule and a marker pen to mark out the necessary holes then transfer that to, in my case the base of an old mess tin, drill and cut out then a dry run, all well and on to the next challenge, job done, no, it is the assumption that if it says it is for a Tiger 1 then unless it says otherwise you assume it will fit any one of the different TAMIYA/HENG LONG clones, after all most everything else does. shaun
