I don't have a problem there, I'm all for investment but I don't see why I should pay more than another person for the same item to enable that investment.

tonight i just bought a lower hull for my tiger from rctankde and there website was gonna charge me 109 euros for it all bought it from there E-bay store and saved myself £10
thats what i do and will always do (coz im a tight git)

i basically have no loyalties to anyone except my family and friends especially not those that are only after my hard earned £££s

so my advice is shop around and get the best for your circumstances whatever they are oh and enjoy the hobby

I  am a little different in this reguard.   I know Mato reinvest their money in tanks.  I know if they do well we well see more selection of tanks.  I want more tanks. The factory that produces Heng Long tanks is called Shantou Mato Plastic toy company.  You have to realize there is a connection there.
knew all about the connection but thanks for the heads up YHR as some others might not have

Not including the extra we pay for the items as they are charged in US dollars? For the jagd its $64 US which is $80 CAN which is £43.50 UK. As I'm losing the will to live on this, I won't be posting again, lets just agree to disagree eh?

well' i'm with rob and abo, i dont have a loyalty to any one, why should i, bottom line is ALL these companies are out to make as much money as possible, what loyalty to the customer do they have? only to relieve youre wallet of youre hard earned currency, so mato reinvest money back into tanks, isnt that called good buisness practice, the same could be said of asiatam, schumo kits, and all the other manufacturers. so on the flip side its common sense to shop around and get the cheapest/best deal you can, so you can buy even more tanks and bits for them

We do have better consumer protection in the UK then in a lot of other countries.

If goods are faulty and you send them back, then seller has to pay for postage for the returned goods. This also applies to compaines outside the UK that are selling to UK consumers, which is why a lot of companies charge extra when shipping to the UK.

????  $64 US is a lot of money,  We pay $54 CAN.  So you guys in England are paying $26.00 CAN more then the local Canucks.     Does anyone know the name of Mato's European cousin??  Maybe you might find a cost structure there that works better for you.

As far as agreeing to disagree, Sure why not.  All I have done is present a counter point to some of the opinions expressed here.  Nothing personal.

Woz, has just brought another important fact to the table.  If this is true then is there any wonder why they charge more to ship to the UK.  I think we all agree no matter who you are or where you live shipping a 1/16 scale tank is not going to be cheap.  Throw in having to pick up the cost to return a bad one, and you cna understand why mailorder companies are charging a little more then what it costs them.   Maybe that is why UK prices seem so damn high!!!!!! Lets also be aware that the shipping costs are there, you know them ahead of time, and you can factor them in to your total cost when you make the smart consumer decision to purchase something.

IF in the end, even with the outragous shipping charges, you can't get it cheaper,or simply can't get it anywhere else, .................................................

@crispy

There is always an outside chance that if she brings it with her, and gift wrapped, that customs won't even look at it. I also happen to know from an inside source that the reason customs chanrges on imported goods is so 'hit and miss' is down to the way that they slap the tickets on. They just pick a crate at random, and stick 'Duty Payable' labels on everything in it.

My Creeping Death turret wasn't charged duty when they sent me the original, but when they returned the modified one I got stung for £18. It was clearly labelled as a repaired toy part, and even had a note on the front. I rang the customs office and explained, and they told me to write to an address they gave me so that I can claim it back. Hopefully I will get a refund.
