Re: Early Tiger 1 my first build
Herman I hope Sunday is treating you well, I just did the same measurement on both the TORRO TIGER and the HENG LONG TIGER and I have come up with 27.mm shaun
I think I am about to upset someone

Re: Early Tiger 1 my first build
Thanks Mr Jarndice, Sunday is about done, the Assen Moto GP was yesterday & life is good !
How about you mate ?
Assuming your 26.8mm is taken from/to the same place, then there are real differences between model manufacture date specs.
I got mine post last xmas, but time of supply & purchase is no garantee of manufaxcture.
I'm thinking right now I am pretty lucky on mine, it seems to be in the correct spot after all.
I was under the assumption that a Tiger with the barrel in the full battery position (with the shorter section between locking rings & mantlet) was older and therefore had its turret in the wrong position, mine has the correctly lengthened barrel so all things being equal = turret in correct spot
I guess we wait for infomed info & go from there

Re: Early Tiger 1 my first build
Sunday lunch in about an hour and on a normal Moto GP day I would settle down in front of the tele and watch these madmen scraping their ELBOWS on the circuit but of course it's the Dutch GP so it was on yesterday and that just doesn't feel right, still it gives me the chance to get the Bandit out on a very sunny and warm (by British standards)summers day for a thrash around the lanes. as to the Tiger, I blame the likes of TANKS for the MEMORY and the other perfectionists who not only point out HENG LONGs shortcomings but blow me if they don't go and fix them, RATS!!! My Tiger body came with the pop off tools so it has to be recent whereas my TORRO Tiger came with molded on tools and yet the dimensions are as far as I can measure the same. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone

Re: Early Tiger 1 my first build
Turret gate complete. The lower half was much easier to cut than the turret,
Here are a few pics.

Just some cleaning up to do now.
I will measure my Taigen tank later as far as I know it doesn't need te turret mod?

Re: Early Tiger 1 my first build
Thanks Alpha
I am happy with how it came out. It was nerve wracking at first but the directions I followed were spot on
Filled in the back of the turret and the gaps on the upper deck

The back
Of the turret is going to require some sanding to smooth it all out and then I will fit the Tamiya Rommel bin I don't like the seam between the top and bottom of the turret , but not sure if I want to goto the trouble of fixing that
will see how the sanding goes first.
Cheers Mark

Hey Mark... here's a trick I use... instead of putty... I use Plastic Dust... I collect all the residual stuff that comes from sanding... put it in a bottle.... you put a bead of super glue then chase it with the dust.... sand ..keep the dust.. and repeat if needed... the stuff becomes harder than concrete.... but still relatively easy to sand... whatever comes off during the sanding process get's put back in the bottle.... the cool thing is it takes only seconds to fill fine gaps holes and such... and never shrinks ...another for hiding those pesky upper lower seams is to sand it ... put a coat of paint by brush... sand that then put your final coats...works pretty well... the only drawback is you have to repeat the steps if you service your turret and break the seam again
The Mato Sherman had a really bad seam on the turret... that is how I got rid of it

Good luck with that Mark... I like the technique because of the speed in which you can continue building...the best thing is it doesn't shrink...Markocaster wrote:

Re: Early Tiger 1 my first build
Photographed a friends wedding today so didn't have much time for the tank
I attached and battle damaged the Tamiya Rommel bin and added battle damage and painted
The air cleaners to resemble 131.

Lots and lots more to do. But I am leaving Wed for Hawaii to get married
She is a keeper 8+ years and never complains about my hobbies
Cheers Mark
