asiatam profline copies
anyone had any of the profline re-issues made by asiatam? i sold the asiatam stug f to certain people who have now recieved there goods, and am told the resin is very poor and of a brittle nature, i never attempted any work on the stug f before i sold it so cant comment on the resin quality, the crisp detail has suffered compared side by side to the old profline stug d i have but otherwise it didnt seem that bad to be having worked on some of the old imperial modelbou kits which end up more filler than resin
always thought that asiatam were going to recast these in plastic when i found out they bought the moulds

Re: asiatam profline copies
Why I just received one in the mail Yesterday... a Stug F... knew right away from the color it was made of the worst kind of resin...very close to that of surfboard resin... this stuff is totally trash.. and cannot be worked with ...if you drill it it will shatter ..it can also not be sanded with any kind of ease....it is one of the tell tale red flags that is a Poor recast... as it will smell like resin when heated...or sanded
Anyway... I know why the guy who sold it to me sold it... I have a little more integrity so instead of passing it on ...I plan to trash it

Alpha,
Don't throw it away. I have been wanting to try Resin for some time. Let me see if I can take my time with it and have some learning experience and fun. I will pay for the shipping.

OH you don't want this Painless... not even paint will stick to this stuff...when I did garage kits there were five grades of resin recast kits that floated around...there is a reason the ones made of this stuff were the cheapest... they were simply junk... At that time a bunch of figure makers here bought them even me ...thinking it couldn't be that bad... we were all wrong ...the only purpose or use I can think of using it for is making a thread to show future resin kit builders what to look for... just trying to figure out how to map out the lesson...as it actually ...a hands on kind of thing ...Mike came over and looked at it too.... not even he knew much about the differences....but he could definitely feel the difference in the densities ....I wouldn't give this to my worst Enemy...let alone a Friend...took the bite for the cost of the kit...and just wrote it off as lesson learned.... another time I should have followed the rule of Caviat emptorPainlessWolf wrote:Alpha,

Good Morning, Alpha,
I understand. I just hate to see anything thrown away in relation to this Hobby when so many desirable items cost so much.

PS.. If you really feel the need to practice with resin...get a good one...they are more of a pleasure to work with..where this stuff might turn you off..and you may never touch resin ever again
Re: asiatam profline copies
If the kit is warped from heat you can fix it with a hair dryer, by heating it up section by section and bending it back. Takes a careful touch but much better than throwing it away.
Where can I buy these Asiatam copies?

Re: asiatam profline copies
Yup... a "cold shot" Hairdryer works best IMO but that works with the good resin...that's not the case with this kit...it actually has very little warpage...you're a modeller J.... you must have come across those super brittle resin kits... this is what this is ...and with that said...you should know there is no fix for brittleJnewboy wrote:If the kit is warped from heat you can fix it with a hair dryer, by heating it up section by section and bending it back. PS.. Yes I would like to know where this kit came from as well...as I couldn't find anyone selling Newly released Asiatam resin kits ...If it is Asiatam... I would like to write them and tell them how lousy it is

Re: asiatam profline copies
Hi Alpha,
Do I also have the Coelian of Asiatam and the rush for a Stug lie with me and the resin is the same as from Profiline earlier and Asiatam has the rights and the forms for legally purchased.
I think it's not good if someone copied the work of others and then wants to make a deal. The price always comes into being from the size of the effort and the cost is this also establish so. If this is too many make offer no longer something new.
I do not know how it is in other countries, but are allowed to do only one copy for yourself if you have bought something, but then do not sell this further with us.
If someone wants to do something he can be happy, but then he should make the master before themselves and do not use the work of others.
That is the honest method.
regards Edwin
