Old henlong tiger
I have a older henlong tiger, there is a switch for the transmitter to contact to,I have just acquired a new hand set and cristals ,would it be possible to use the new transmitter with this tank, clueless sorry.regards mick taylor.

Greetings Mick... it depends what is in your tank presently... if it has an ABC switch somewhere then no.. and you have the wrong transmitter for it... if you see a smoker switch and a volume control under the tank... and somewhere to plug the crystal...usually in the battery compartment... then yes...you have the correct rig

Hey Mick... it doesn't mean you can't use what you have.... you would need the proper receiver.. in the tank...but the upgrade is not impossible Check some of Marc780's posts(when you sign in...click on his name)... he's done a lot of the upgrades..and has it all noted down
The only thing you will miss out by upgrading a basic model is the gun "KA POW" sound... as the basic model doesn't have the micro switch in the gun mech ...everything else is pretty much transferable... gearboxes... you can put in a speaker and smoker unit as well
What I do is try to balance the cost out... or in other words ..shop around on Ebay and such... come up with a rough total of what it will cost to upgrade and compare that to acquiring another tank instead...There are some complete rigs for about 60 dollars us... comes with the transmitter .. board ...RX ..new crystals
The other method is to keep an eye out for a second hand "beater" tank... if the electronics work.. but the rest is just beaten down... it could give you everything you need to upgrade the one you have .... I'm upgrading most of my favorite S&S models to the new 2.4 gig rigs... have a couple ABC basic models..which will get the electronics from those...so in this hobby... nothing that is in good shape really get's wasted..it's a fun part of the adventure and it helps in the education of what makes these things tick
Now if you don't feel like going through the work...just get a ABC transmitter...about 30 dollars US... can be found on Ebay ...if you are in the UK... forgebear... or Welshdragon ....(Sometimes forgebear doesn't have it listed in his auctions... just drop him a line and ask.he is also a member of the board ..good guy ..highly recommend )
Good Luck Mick
