Wood stain

Post by jarndice »

Does anybody have any thoughts about using stain on wooden tool handles and barrel cleaning rods or should they be left alone apart from a matt varnish seal? shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

what tom said, cocktail sticks is the usual method with a splash of wash. Also oil paints which have been left to solidify a while can be used to create a nice wood grain effect on plastic parts.

I used a British Paints product stain & Varnish golden oak for my barrel cleaning rods. Seems correct colour, has sealed the wood(toothpicks) and should cope with a bit of weathering & white wash etc while still maintaining the colour.
