Hello and welcome,

The Tamiya static Tiger is a great entry into large scale armor. Before your next purchase though, make sure to check the 'vendor blacklist', 'recommended vendors' and 'things to fix on your new tank' sections down below to help you make your choice.

Heng Long tanks are decent for their price, but some of them are really inaccurate and need a lot of work to bring to any standard.
Tamiya models are on the whole excellent in every way, but even they could do with some additional work to make them even better.
Mato and Torro I have no experience with myself, but seem to fit in between HL and Tamiya in every way.

Thanks. Im purchasing my Tiger from a friend so no worries there. I will check out the vendor list though in the future. I have seen model deals go back on other pages & that is not a good thing! I HATE seeing modelers ripping other modelers off! I have a lot to learn about this aspect of the hobby! I am not familiar with Mato or Torro. Come to think of it, isn't Torro the real manufacturer of the Hobby Boss 1/16 Tiger I?

Thanks. I will be starting the Tiger in about a month or so as time permits. I will most definitely be posting pics during the construction phase. I will be doing a Tiger I from SS Panzer Regiment "Das Reich" northern Russia, 1943. No decals exist for this tank so I will try to have someone custom make them for me. I have never seen any Tiger on the net painted in this scheme so my model will definitely stand out among the many thousands of Tiger tanks in cyber land. I will post the color scheme Im going to do once I commence with assembly.

Welcome to the boards Panzer....Gotta say ..your timing is very good ...as the world of Heng Longs is getting better and larger...right now IMO they are the most attentive to the market... the New Tigers are especially Nicer now... It's a great adventure for sure ...Hope you enjoy and choose to participate more here... and contrary to what has been said.... We do cook... though recipes are top secret

Thanks for the warm welcome. I used to build in 1/35 scale but I just got tired of dealing with all those micro sized parts. Im 45 now & my vision & steadiness of the hands are not what they used to be so a jump to 1/16 scale seemed like the logical choice. Not a problem with the cooking....I have some top secret recipes of my own!

Thanks! I am really excited about this page & getting into the world of large scale RC tanks. I do not currently have any panzers to show but as soon as I start the big Tiger from Tamiya, I will post plenty of pics.

Robert I am pleased your purchase is in safe hands, now DECALS,It is possible to make up your own, or if you go to http://WWW.ELITEARMOR.COM in the USA or Peddinghaus in Germany they will make up decals to your specification, and most surprising of all they are not that expensive. So if you do a little research to find exactly what you want, you then contact perhaps in your case Elite Armor, and you then have one unique Tank. Hope that helps. shaun

This scale is much more challenging... mostly because there aren't that many parts... so imagination and some scratch building skills are helpful...did 1/35 at one time in my life... (early teens) got tired of it..when catching on to this part of the Hobby... I started to miss the variety ...many models need modifications in order to achieve what you want.... with that said... it is a fun adventure..

Cool! Thanks for the info! I don't really care about the price just as long as I can have my decals made for my particular vehicle. I will contact them soon for more details.
