Re: Installing Asiatam recoil unit in a Tiger 1 - help neede

Post by Tankbear »

Sorry tanks for the memory I didn’t take any pictures when I did mine. Yes your correct the flash unit does give off a high pitch wine when charging up, but to activate it the micro switch (above the elevation motor) must be triggered this activates the cannon fire sound and flash.

If I remember correctly if you push left stick up and leave up it, it will cycle through the firing process and return even with the other thicker red lead not connected to battery negative (as basically both are the same). If you get that working and still no flash or sound then the mechanism isn’t returning properly under the spring and you’ll have to check alignment as I found slightest bit out stops it.

Hope that helps

Hi tanks for the memory.

This might help.

I found the BB channel was fouling on the plastic barral clamp and limiting the return and wasn't getting to the micro switch. So I removed it.

I forgot to ask before when you said flash didn't work, but did the sound work? If you getting sound and no flash then it is most likely a faulty flash unit. But if no flash and no sound think it is the micro switch situation I mention before.

There is a diode mod which eleminates the micro switch ( airsoft or recoil) to give same effect. If your happy everything is fine but no flash or sound maybe try that method.

Wow, just fitted the Taigen/Asiatm recoil unit to my HL tiger1 in just 60mins thanks to help and replies on this thread. Up and working perfectly 1st time, thanks guys...... Just need to do some fine adjustment to the barrel which is a little loose in the mantel...... no big deal, some PTFE tape wrapped round the barrel should work, unless someone knows a better solution????

Thats what makes this forum so special, thanks.....
Take care...... Gary

It's what we're all here for - help or helping.

I stopped my 'barrel droop' by gluing a piece of brass strip inside the bottom of the part of the barrel still attached to the mantlet - see http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... =22&t=8350

hi i have the same problem i have one of the latested tiger 1 tanks it started life as a heng long now its had a metal lower hull with metal whe4els sprockets idlers opening front hatches but now i am fitting opening rear engine cover and fan grills that will open all metal it is also getting a metal turret and when it comes a clark TK22-T1 Board now to my problem i have got a Asiatam recoil unit it looks very much the same as the photos on here but there is a difference in wiring on mine i have 2 motors on the left motor i have 1 blue wire on the right motor i have 1 white wire now i tack it these go to the turret switch if im wrong please say next the flash unit has the led for up the barrel and a 5 pin plug witch i think will go to the inferred on the board ? now there is 1 red wire with the same plug and heat shrink sleeve as the aerial and a 3 pin plug with 1 rde and 2 black wires so first does this long lead with 3 wires and plug go to the small board under the top hull if not were and were does this aerial looking lead go i see that jukebox said The thick red wire connects to the negative battery feed to the RX18, I soldered a wire to the corresponding socket pin underneath the RX18 main board and solder/crimped a connector on to suit the wire from the recoil unit. This connection is needed to reset the recoil position. is there any where else it could be put on the rx18 and were would it need to be on the clark board so any help would be greatfull guys .. thanks
