Good Morning,
If I couldn't listen to the stories and learn from the mistakes, I wouldn't even bother with the Hobby. Good Morning, Gentlemen. My biggest pain to date was the functioning spare track mounts on the Panther G ( one of the reasons, I haven't gotten a Jagdpanther yet ) or it could have been the lights on 'Maxene' or the electrics and wiring update on 'In The Mood'. The list goes on. *chuckles* As for the other, that would have to be when the Trooper pulled into the overlook and shone a spot on our truck and walked over with a flashlight and we are sitting there with our clothes draped over us, held on by seat belts like we are wearing them, hoping that he won't ask us to get out of the vehicle....

Been a bit of a slow down in progress lately lads, just life, you know how it is.

Re mounted the roadwheels & the threads in the metal arms were tight, but took the screws no problem.
I thought about the feeling of the metal hubs rotating over the axles & decided to lube them.
Put a few drops of 80W/90 gear oil on each axle and secured.
They are all very smooth & seem to oscillate better on the arms now.
Placed the engine deck mesh & will blend the grey on them and the last little bits before the cam coverage.
Experimented with some old fashioned dry brushing of some darker grey on the wheels to get texture. Pretty safe to do as these will undoubtably see a bit of weathering & snow etc.

Still to complete the top brackets for the tow cables and barrel cleaning rods, but those can be brush matched pretty easy.

Yes it does. Of course it has been "liberated" from the kitchen stores and covered in newspaper taped underneath.
I have found it ideal for doing weld lines (as I use the heat & melt method) detailing, and of course the painting with both airbrush and dry brush.
Ive only had one problem with modeling on top of it.
It can rotate by itself due to positional imbalance & have the barrel sticking out over the edge of the desk.
Thats not cool when you have a 2 year old in the house !!.................as hes out all the time, little Miss has spotted the barrel sticking out & amused herself batting it round & round until mummy springs her & she runs off like a dog shot in the ass!!!!!
Shes really good with him now though, shes a quick learner.

I have about 4 weeks left then there will be a newborn in the house, and that will severely cramp my tanking time !
Kid number 6................Im thinking just to number them & give up trying to remember names !!!

So she likes spinning things I can understand why your progress has slowed .... must be tough allotting time ....SIX ...DANG!!!!!!!... I'm kind of surprised any of your tanks survive

Herman,
The Tiger is looking really good! It is easy to see the grey modulations and shading. The fender skirts are damaged 'just enough' for realism. Chains and caps on the exhausts?

Not sure on the caps & chains mate....................I will have to see if the local delicatesan has any !!- god knows you guys find things in the most unlikely places it would not surprise me !

Seriously, Ive crossed the exhaust rain/weather caps early off the list as un necessary, but have been toying with at least doing the one perhaps, but if I do one then might as well do them both. Old story- where do you stop !!!!
Im on the hunt for the right stuff to use for periscopes, will do a clear blue coat on them. But the perspex I think I need is not so easy to get in such small volumes. Plenty of clear acrylic around, but its been to brittle to cut & work with so Ive found out.
The grey shading was really a leap of faith & I was genuinely concerned that the thing looked blue, but as the paint was drawn into the undercoat that I did high-build to give texture, its calmed down . The shading was probably a little light on the flat black, but its done enough to give a bit of 'depth' to the grey.
The cam overcoat will be another case of backing myself & waiting for the paint to dry. Going to use a 50/50% XF60 Dark Yellow and XF55 Deck Tan as the 'Gelb' patches, with straight XF64 Red Brown for the others. Not to concerned with minor overspray on the tyres as im sure they wouldnt have back then. Most would wear off quickly anyway.
I will dry brush the WW though, ive done a bit of testing out but the airbrush just looks to clinical for me. The subject picture looks like it has had a generous coat, but its still been put on by hand just looking at it.
