Its hard to say what the colours in fact are, but the scheme looks field applied.

Looks to have at least three colors... not sure if field applied... as I think it would be cruder ... definitely not grey based...shadowed area's would be closer to black... lighter colors would stand out more...since you can clearly see three colors... it's probably a gelb based tank...that's my opinion

PS...A give to the color... look at the crewman's neck... it almost blends in with the tank color

Field application varies wildly, there's some 502 schemes which are works of art and the 505 charging knight was applied by company maintenance sections so counts as field applied. Depends on who, where and what they had but field maintenance used a type of airbrush.

I can't find the other photo which goes with this one but its the same guys applying the camouflage you see on that tank with a giant airbrush and the charging knight is a stencil. 505 is a good or bad example depending on how you look at it because they were very well equipped, having Henschel engineers working with them during their work up period in the Tiger 2.

The Bovington Jagdtiger used to be painted grey - and possibly still is. Perhaps that was their inspiration? But I agree that it's very unlikely to have been authentic. Besides isn't it rather a boring scheme!

Maybe it is grey because it's an very early proto version (Porsche chassis) and or because it was captured on a proving ground.

I will use this as an example of a factory fresh Jagdtiger in a sand colour primer. Interestingly enough they didn't refer to it as Dark Yellow or dunkelgelb. If it is the same tank 301 then it would have received a field applied camo then.

Lost in translation somewhere? I have the same book. Made me want to get a Ferdinand. That tank was hardcore.

Dunkelgelb was in short supply by this stage. If applied at all it would most likely be applied as a camo colour rather than a base as is the case with the ambush pattern.

Very nice! What kits are those?

The Elephant is the Asiatam all metal kit. I put in a Clark board and an asiatam recoil. Atek pre-fab zims and finishes by fellow forum member dgsselkirk.

The JagdTiger is my current project. Will try to post some pics when it is all done. Juckenburg upper with the new Taigen KT metal lower hull. Metal barrel and mantlet is from fellow forum member tomhugil. I have to extend the Taigen lower hull (track tensioner and all) to fit the longer upper but all and all I am very happy with it. Clark board again with servo recoil.
