Hi Guys/Girls
My name is Richard and I have liked tanks from a very young age, im no expert on any tanks but just like the look and pure awesomeness of them.
Im sure after the week of looking at youtube ive seen some of your tanks already and can I say how cool they all look.
My first tank will be ordered in the next week but im completely unsure as to what kit to buy. I know the tiger 1 is the tank,
I have around £300 to spend so im not sure about just buying a henglong pro version £99 and upgrade it to a higher spec or to buy the all metal taigen £249, or just push the boat out to buy the torro £399.?
Im also not a scaled/detailed finisher either so I was thinking the taigen early tiger and just weather it up a bit with rust and mud pigments. I really like the dark panzer grey tiger by taigen but I cant find one in panzer grey ?
I have looked on here and as all forums go there are pros and cons on each and individual persons thoughts.
Hopefully I can live and learn...
If any one has any thoughts or concerns about my choice let me know, and it would be nice to hear from people with the taigen tiger 1 and there thoughts.
Thanks again
Rich

Re: newbie with a few questions
I know you said Tiger 1 but here's the first one i found kind of close and has all the features i'd want for a starter tank. If you're really set on a t iger you may not be interested but here it is.

The price is about right and the best part, it comes with a 2.4 Ghz radio system. After fumbling, swearing, and spending like a drunken sailor trying to make a tiger and a KT work right, I have had no troubles at all wit the 2.4 radio i installed after working my way through all the other dubious electronics they generally come with.
I got my Tiger 1 for $65 SHIPPED from hobbygasm.com when they were running a super special, 30% off. Add just another $80 for the Heng long 2.4 Ghz and you'd have a great running tank. (You'd need a wiring set same as for the RX18 wiring set, but that is all-its easy to hook up).
The only other advice i have for you is two thinks-decide whether you will want to do zimmerit or not, if so just buy the sheets from welsh dragon or buy some Atak sheets. They are just glued on and the results are great. No muss, no mess, hard to make a mistake.
Secondly did i mention how much i like the 2.4 ghz radio-i spend hundreds of dollars on transmitters, receivers, circuit boards etc. trying to fix the crappy tk01 board but lets face it, it is useless. The tK18 is better but still plenty too many glitches for me-would stop responding at erratic intervals despite installing a three foot long internal antenna etc. and this made me bonkers. This 2.4ghz eliminates all that-the response is perfect and range, at least 100 feet.

Re: newbie with a few questions
Greetings Rich.... welcome to the board... all the Tigers you have in mind have merit... the one word of advice I would have is stay away from the basic Heng Long Tiger.. its a good tank...but I'm not sure how and if you want to mess with the electricals ...if you think you won't miss the firing sound or recoil then it's fine.... it's the hardest add on for the basic model as the gun does not have the micro switch to activate it ...the machine gun flashing circuit is also missing... So I would say to go with the Mid or Top of the line if you are going Heng Long... as well as the Taigen ...as they have two different models... the High being just a tad better the the top line torro ...stay away from the low end torro... they are cheap for a reason
Good Luck and enjoy the Adventure

Re: newbie with a few questions
Hi Guys thanks for all your thoughts and comments, I think it will be a taigen full metal, not the turret, infra red as I like the true canon recoil, I just need to find out how to stop it leaping back when the gun fires ... Im now leaning towards the later version as the detail seem better and I can weather it up and bend a few fenders and pop a bucket on the back to make it mine lol...
Thanks Again.
ps I will get some pics of it up straight out of the box
when I actually order and receive it lol. Im working with someone on here to get me one hopefully soon......
Thanks Again.
